If they have, they are giving nothing away in this weeks consultative committee agenda - only that their focus is very much on the winter 2018-19 and summer 2019 seasons for growth and development and that this year will, likely as not, see a small reduction in passengers compared to the year just ending. Hardly surprising really given the loss of Monarch, the failure of Thomas Cook to produce the based aircraft agreed, and the fact Ryanair are not providing additional peak capacity this summer as they did last year. Add to that the 50% reduction in BA flights and there is no way we are likely to see any increase at all in 2018-19.

Woopie do, TUi the airline that's never really favored LBA has announced a host of new routes and 3rd based aircraft from DSA for next Summer 2019. It also includes a once weekly 787 screamliner service to Orlando Florida.

Wonder if LBA have anything up there sleeve, seen as its been really quiet lately.

Clinging onto what they've got probably.

I see the DSA press release has a little dig at "Yorkshire's Airport" here at LBA.

DSA Said said:
"Yorkshire's only direct long haul holiday destination with new route to Florida"

I am assuming that Tui have no plans for extra capacity from Lba for summer 2019 or is it possicle they may do at a later date.

Can`t help but feeling that Tui would much prefer to leave LBA and concentrate a bigger operation at Doncaster. However, the large Jet2 operation means they need to compete with them and as a result feel they have to remain at Leeds. The bad news is that they will only keep an operation sufficent for their needs though.

TUi left LBA some years ago to put their base at DSA and smugly believed all us folk up here would trudge down to DSA out of loyalty to the Thomson brand. We didn't though did we? That opened the door to Thomas Cook initially (sadly their problems led to them losing the market they had gained) and in turn, those same doors were opened to Jet2 Holidays, and boy have they taken advantage. Ultimately, TUi at DSA have 3 based aircraft in 2019 - Jet2 have what? Likely as not at least 14 based at LBA and some of those are larger capacity too. Jet2 carry more pax out of LBA than all the airlines put together at DSA. TUi are only restoring some of the capacity that have previously had at DSA and then withdrawn. I have to agree though that their reluctance to increase their presence at LBA is frustrating and suggests they perhaps are not up for the fight with Jet2 in their own back yard.

Do we know what Balkan are doing in summer 2019 from Lba ?
It would seem Robin Hood has been dropped and Humberside o resets to two flights a week.

This was released by Manchester airport yesterday. It basically highlights that the Yorkshire region is loosing 4.8m passengers a year travelling from this region to Islamabad, Orlando and New York etc. Ironically, all three destinations are well within reach from LBA with no further runway extension. I'm sure the LBA management will be fully aware of the figures released by Manchester airport. What will it take to claw back some of these lost passengers?

The 4.8 million figure is not just long haul and them 3 routes. It is actually the total figure of Yorkshire passengers annually using Manchester Airport for both Long Haul & Short Haul routes

Saying that! I tagged LBA's twitter account and retweeted that above message this morning along with another message (See Below)

The most frequent routes according to MAG are Orlando, Las Vegas, New York, Cancun, Hong Kong, Barbados, Dubai, Singapore, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Jerry how's them figures relevant #Leeds/Bradford or the #Yorkshire region's leakage of 4.8 million passengers using Manchester Airport? As the figures you've posted in the above picture show the leakage of 1.1 million passengers from #Wales using Manchester Airport...

Maybe that's better posted in either the Cardiff, Bristol or Birmingham threads??

Thought i had posted it in the Cardiff thread! Moved it now!

To make it worse, the 4.8 million is outbound only from Yorkshire.

Would suggest at least another 1-2 million inbounds can be added to that figure.

Was thinking last week about the routes recently lost / at risk with the demise of Logan air from LBA, the ongoing demise of Eastern, and the constant rumour, speculation, and bad press about FlyBe or FlyMayBe as it seems to be known in some quarters, plus the reduction in LHR flights with BA.
Notwithstanding the obvious fact that the A319 may be too big for some of these services is this not an obvious opening for the Orange brigade know as 'Easy' at LBA? Look at what has been lost or has the potential of being lost;
Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Bristol, Gatwick, IOM, - all served by Easy. The only two that stick out as awkward to replace are Exeter and Southampton, both obviously FlyBe strongholds.
While I wouldn't want an Orange takeover of LBA surely there is potential for it to work - a reliable jet service is surely more enticing to business travellers than a hotch-potch prop service that operates when it wants to?
I just wish FlyBe would get it's act together and provide a reliable service out of LBA - adding the E175 more regularly would be a bonus too!!

Over recent times there have been a number of comments, including mine, willing Easy to start serious operations from LBA but to date they have been deaf to such pleas. Maybe the new mangement will try and do something to rectify this or it maybe of course that Easy don't very much like any deals that have been offered to them or they don't want to dilute their offering at other airports by starting operations here. Whatever they don't seem to like us.

Not sure how Johan Lundren's plans for Easyjet future can embrace LBA. His announcements last week seem to imply that he wants to take on his former employers TUI and move from a LCC to a holiday/hotel operation rather then a straight seat sale.
His view is that he can use his previous experience to move existing seat customers to buy a package including a hotel and he wants to target existing customers and routes at bases like Luton, rather then look for new new routes and bases.
Fairly sure the news from Thomas Cook last week that this year the last for Club 18 - 30 holidays as under 30 more anxious how their hotel choice is viewed on social media, then the overall package or cost, will have given him food for thought whether this strategy is wise, never mind the failure of Monarch to make inroads in to the package holiday business.

O Leary would be delighted if he left the seat onlys to him and went full on against Tui and the market leader Jet2..I think that's the point that Stelios would exert himself again..Still a big shareholder..

Dont worry they dont like BHX either, even though they operate a sucessfull route to Belfast BFS and extended Geneva GVA from winter only to year round, yes we have x 2 routes but why do we have x 2 routes ?? It just doesnt make any sense.

The guy never got to the top at TUI and was sent on gardening leave when he failed to get the top job, a strange choice for Easyjet. Carolyn McCall never agreed with Stelios and this is thought to be one of the reasons she jumped ship to ITV, even though Liberty or others will probably buy ITV this year and she is out of a job.
I think MOL has enough problems as he has to say good bye to us u.k. shareholders next March and find someone else to fund Ryanair or move the company to the u.k. if he wants to fly outside europe (excluding the u.k.)
For someone who is such a huge supporter of the e.u. he seems as if he wont get any help from the e.u. on shareholding. Branson is going to have very similar problems, for two guys who have totally supported the e.u. not a nice way to treat them.

the e.u. on shareholding. Branson is going to have very similar problems,
For Virgin Atlantic? They don't fly to the EU their worry would be the US UK deal.
As for Ryanair, they'll have a plan and i wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be Ryanair UK that's separate but the majority shareholder is Ryanair Ireland or something to that effect.
As for Easyjet going as a TUI type airline i'd be surprised if they ended up like that as a lot of Easyjets network is point 2 point cities and it's what they are good at.
yes we have x 2 routes but why do we have x 2 routes ??
Look on the brightside! It's better than nothing!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
