Can't wait to book a table here.

New Grand Hotel looks nice too mate, I think it is due to open on Monday 17th May 2021 so at least we have some new additions to the city, especially after a few won't be re-opening such as OPUS which used to be very popular and has closed for good.

OPUS was a bit of a shock as it was such a popular place, very sad to see it go. As one door closes another opens though and with such a strong food scene in Birmingham I don't think it will be long before we see something in it's place.

New Grand Hotel looks nice too mate,

That's the plan, a night in the Grand and a meal in 103CR, can't wait 🙂

Digbeth, in my opinion, should be preserved as much as is possible whilst any new buildings are sympathetically blended to keep the area distinct from the modern tower filled city. If possible, the existing buildings cleaned up on the outside with the interiors modernised sufficiently to attract new owners enough to wish to live there. Keep the older buildings and repurpose them for residential use.

One question is Why the need for another nightclub so close to the City centre? Still, the plans are approved and the work can commence.

And now the third world part, yikes. This makes me sad, it is truly awful, in fact I am ashamed of the state of Southside :rage:😢😢

How can we have a city that 1 part is truly awesome and the other truly horrid ??

At least they are starting to demolish those 2 grotty car parks, ready for the Smithfield masterplan to start in the next few years. It cannot come soon enough.

That part of Smallbrook Queensway was a thriving part of the city only a few years ago.

Whatever happened to the plan for street improvements and that Chinese archway? It's a shame as the area has huge potential.

I must admit, when I read the words 'third world part' I expected pictures of Dale End.

At least at Dale End they have started on the Midland Metro Extension and Lower Bull Street is now closed to all traffic, it will see the demolition of that McDonalds which is stab central, however McDonalds will be moving over the road in a vacant unit, lol

Meanwhile in Southside we are yet to see a start on the Hurst street public realm improvments which have been mooted for over 3 years, they are expected to start imminently but we have been waiting 3 years so who knows ??

Apart from Grot central the new bits are fabulous but I only remember Alpha tower when it stood alone. Victoria Sq. has been, in my opinion, ruined. No more than a Public performance space and convenience at the fountain if it still there. The city is unrecognizable to the one I left.

Having caught the train into Moor Street the other day for my jab it really does feel that you arrive on the edge of the city centre.

Smithfield and the various projects in Digbeth/Deritend/Bordesley really can't come soon enough IMO.

And there are some people in the city still debating whether to regenerate Digbeth and extend the city centre. As you say Coathanger the city centre to most people who do not know Birmingham ends at the Bullring/Moor Street.

Where does the City Centre end exactly? Could it be Five Ways to the West and Aston University to the East? Is it just the shopping area or does one include the cultural areas?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
