Maybe LBAyorkie meant that wouldn’t it be easier to train the staff on live aircraft rather than in a staff room where they can’t put the training into practice?
Exactly, send a couple of supervisors/shift leaders over and they can train everyone else when they get back.

As sure the are some team members employed by Swissport at LBA whom have previous experience from PIA & BA's pod operations. So with that in mind they might only need refreshing. Hence the trainer is coming to LBA from MAN to do the course.

Those team members once trained can then train the inexperience team members once the said airline and it's aircraft turns up at LBA.

Except that results in at least two lots of training and the trainer at MAN has to rely on the Supervisors at LBA taking it all on board sufficiently well to go back and then train up the other staff.themselves
That's a risk. Using one senior trainer to train everyone at LBA ensures they all get the same training and there's no risk of misunderstandings.
Anyway, I am sure they know their business better than us.

But it must be less effective doing hypothetical training without an aircraft or probably even the handling equipment. May as well do it on zoom. Anyway as you say Im sure they know what theyre doing. Maybe equipment is on its way!

As I have already said. If there is any truth in the cargo container training rumour mentioned by White Heather, I think its more likely to be a return of BA than any long haul operation as much as that would be welcomed.

If that's the case, that doesn't explain the possible request for upgraded fire cover as mentioned by LBASpotter. That suggests a wide body operation?
I can't see BA returning now, especially given the new Flybe route to LHR.

And that's a very good question given there's nobody at LBA and it's fair to say that a route such as ISB on a wide body would carry freight.
I've sat down before with airport management and tried to explain how cargo operations 'work' but theres no interest and no willingness to learn either. I've got 15 years experience of running a transit shed at Heathrow (and locally) so if they don't listen to me what hope is there? Until they appoint a cargo manager with some experience or who is willing to take advice they cant be taken seriously.

Ok that might be plausible, but why would BA need CAT 8 Fire Cover?

That is for aircraft sized Airbus A330-200, A350, Boeing 767-300 or Boeing 787-800.

Hate to be a party pooper and I’m willing to concede the person May be mistaken, but I know one of the swissport trainers at MAN personally, and he doesn’t know anything about staff being sent to LBA to train, as they are behind MAN training as it is and literally nobody to spare to send over?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
