No it wouldn't. Why send multiple staff to MAN when you can send one person to LBA to train those multiple Swissport people here? It's far more cost effective to just send one trainer to where the people are that need training..It would make more sense to send LBA staff to MAN for training.
Exactly, send a couple of supervisors/shift leaders over and they can train everyone else when they get back.Maybe LBAyorkie meant that wouldn’t it be easier to train the staff on live aircraft rather than in a staff room where they can’t put the training into practice?
Except that results in at least two lots of training and the trainer at MAN has to rely on the Supervisors at LBA taking it all on board sufficiently well to go back and then train up the other staff.themselvesExactly, send a couple of supervisors/shift leaders over and they can train everyone else when they get back.
But it must be less effective doing hypothetical training without an aircraft or probably even the handling equipment. May as well do it on zoom. Anyway as you say Im sure they know what theyre doing. Maybe equipment is on its way!Except that results in at least two lots of training and the trainer at MAN has to rely on the Supervisors at LBA taking it all on board sufficiently well to go back and then train up the other staff.themselves
That's a risk. Using one senior trainer to train everyone at LBA ensures they all get the same training and there's no risk of misunderstandings.
Anyway, I am sure they know their business better than us.
And that's a very good question given there's nobody at LBA and it's fair to say that a route such as ISB on a wide body would carry freight.I'm waiting next question.
Who's doing the freight handling?
I have to assume as theres no provision for cargo at LBA there wont be any. Presumably these are baggage bins.I'm waiting next question.

If that's the case, that doesn't explain the possible request for upgraded fire cover as mentioned by LBASpotter. That suggests a wide body operation? As I have already said. If there is any truth in the cargo container training rumour mentioned by White Heather, I think its more likely to be a return of BA than any long haul operation as much as that would be welcomed.
I've sat down before with airport management and tried to explain how cargo operations 'work' but theres no interest and no willingness to learn either. I've got 15 years experience of running a transit shed at Heathrow (and locally) so if they don't listen to me what hope is there? Until they appoint a cargo manager with some experience or who is willing to take advice they cant be taken seriously. And that's a very good question given there's nobody at LBA and it's fair to say that a route such as ISB on a wide body would carry freight.

How about the first aircraft type you mentioned to a country on the western side of the Indian sub continent. Why would BA need CAT 8 Fire Cover?
That is for aircraft sized Airbus A330-200, A350, Boeing 767-300 or Boeing 787-800.
