Can anyone suggest frequency groups (ie. to create scanner banks) for listening to the following in the Leeds area? I understand there has been some recent changes.

1. Leeds Bradford activity (ground, approach, arrivals, departures etc)

2. Activity covering north of England arrivals, departures i.e. aircraft approaching & departing MAN, LBA etc in the descent/climb.

3. Aircraft at high level overflying the area en route transatlantic etc.

Re: Listening Frequencies around LBA

Frequencies are available on many sites even the airports own sites list the main frequencies. I also bought 2 dvd's with thousands on for a few quid off ebay. Here's a few to get you going....

Leeds-Bradford tower 120.300 approach 123.750 radar 121.050 groundmovements 455.6125 Servisair 130.600 handling 131.575

All of the following I can pick up OCCASIONALLY from locations such as the cemetery at Yeadon or the top of Otley chevin (yes even Heathrow approach!):
Manchester tower 118.625 approach 118.575 control 134.425 (is now called Scottish control)

Doncaster tower 126.225

Heathrow approach 119.725

East Midlands approach 134.175

London control 135.525 135.585 132.860 132.130

Hope they help!

Re: Listening Frequencies around LBA

Leeds Tower,120.3, is automatically retransmitted on 455.6125 UHF. It is sometimes possible to get better reception on the latter with a quality receiver and antenna.

From early July, Leeds Delivery will be available on 121.8. Approach will change to 125.525. The Tower frequencies are not changing.

Re: Listening Frequencies around LBA

Thanks for your replies 'oldendays' and 'masere'.

Re: Listening Frequencies around LBA

starjet55

The tower frequency is still 120.30 but the radar is now 125.575 instead of 123.75 (not 125.525). These are the best 2 frequencies for the day to day stuff coming in and out and through the zone.

dead carrier wave

Is any one else getting a dead carrier wave on 126.225. Its not on all the time hit the scann button it goes when a transmisson is made it stays as if the mike key is still depressed :dunno:

LBA = ATC Alpha numeric callsigns

Hi

Here are the ATC alpha numeric flight numbers that airlines will be using on there services in and out of LBA this summer 2011 season. bmi regional no longer use these on the glasgow route anymore as they have gone back to using flight numbers.

Thomas Cook and Thomson Airways summer flights will be added from May 1st onwards.

Re: LBA = ATC Alpha numeric callsigns

How come airlines use alpha numeric call signs?

Wouldn't it be easier to use the flight number instead

Hi jumpmaster, thanks for posting!

If it hasn't changed since my air band radio broke some time ago, it's a UHF frequency of 455.### (something) If that helps at all. I understand that sometimes the same frequency is also broadcast on the tower frequency VHF 120.0.

Sorry yes. I'm a bit rusty on this topic. I'm sure somebody will come back with the full UHF frequency as well.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
