I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the airport to at least acknowledge the situation. Nobody is asking for commercially sensitive details or a running commentary on negotiations with easyJet, but when several established routes are no longer available for sale, that is clearly a matter of interest to passengers, businesses and stakeholders.

A simple acknowledgement that the routes are currently unavailable for booking, together with an indication of whether discussions are ongoing, would provide clarity without compromising commercial confidentiality. Refusing to comment altogether simply creates a vacuum that fuels speculation.

Hiding behind “commercial confidentiality” to avoid even acknowledging an obvious issue is the sort of response many would associate with DSA and the clowns running the show there, not Leeds. LBA has generally been more open and pragmatic in its engagement with stakeholders, and it is entirely reasonable to expect some recognition of a development that could have implications for the airport’s route network.

Nobody is asking for confidential details. They are simply asking the airport to acknowledge what is already visible to the public and provide whatever reassurance it reasonably can.

They’re all bases though, except NQY. Stands to reason that the bases will see the network reshuffles.

I know its frustrating but at least LBA does have an Easyjet presence, some other airports aren't blessed with that.

Sorry to say this but it is looking more and more like the end of easyJet act LBA as they concentrate and expand services at other UK airports. Yesterday's consultative council meeting didn't inspire any confidence in the expansion of the base other than saying the three routes we still have were doing OK. Long term I can only see these routes going especially as easy are to phase out their A319 fleet by September 2029. I hope not but this is like the railways 'closure by stealth'.

To be honest, I maybe been negative but I can’t see Barcelona and Paris lasting too much longer either on this basis.
Paris is doing fine - its biggest barrier is easyJet constantly changing between A319s and A320s, restricting some load potential
I’m waiting to see how Barcelona develops, loads have picked up nicely recently and I’m hoping it remains that way

Honestly, I often wish easyJet would get out of their own way, Barcelona has suffered from some dreadful flight times affecting Wednesday outbounds (now sorted) and, while the new Monday inbounds from Palma are decently loaded, the outbound loads are dreadful, even lower than the already light Ryanair Monday evening outbounds which it competes directly with

Nothing showing for last week of Feb and most of March either so I think we can safely say CDG is for the axe too. As others are saying it is extremely disappointing. Perhaps even worrying. Mind you, come W27/28 Jet2 will have to be using B738s on the route but would be good to have some competition.
Unless there is an unrelated announcement to come, which in the current climate I feel is unlikely

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
