Landing slots at LIS are like gold, I have been saying for years its a great destination.
SOU is a must.
Not sure about ORK
IST would be a Willy Wonker Golden Ticket.
VNO is a no brainer

All the rest are a bonus.

Unserved:

  • Lisbon Airport (LIS)
  • Athens International Airport (ATH)
  • Southampton Airport (SOU)
  • Cork Airport (ORK)
  • Istanbul Airport (IST)
  • King Abdulaziz International Airport – Jeddah (JED)
  • Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH)
  • Vilnius Airport (VNO)
Underserved:

  • Bergen Airport (BGO)
  • Keflavik-Reykjavik Airport (KEF)
  • Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN)
Jeddah presumably for Haj flights. IST would be a waste of time unless Turkish or a codeshare/alliance partner flew the route. To be honest I cant sed ORK, ATH, BGO or KEF supporting regular flights, and where are German Airports and CPH?

I flew it years ago but cant remember the airline but BM rings a bell.
Cork was served by BMI regional and also Aer Arann over a decade ago. Although BMI never seemed to get decent loads, Aer Arann always seemed to be busy so it must have been a low yielding route back then. With more people than ever using LBA now is probably a good time to give it another go.

Cork was aer arann using dash props, nice livery too from memory,
king Abdulaziz International Airport – Jeddah (JED) bit of an odd one although i hear there planning or currently constructing a mega airport there?
Valencia would work well out of LBA, believe years ago jet2 operated from leeds to vlc for a short time? Ryanair would be ideal on this route i feel.

Aer Arann used ATR42 and ATR72 aircraft, not Dash's. Aer Lingus Regional have just announced new routes from Cork to Glasgow and Bristol so maybe we will get a chance eventually.

Agree re Valencia. Jet2 had good loads but I seem to recall airport fees were high. I'm surprised Madrid hasn't come back although I guess slots are a problem there too.

I’ld also add Murcia to that Spanish list. We had both Jet2 and Ryanair on the route but both consolidated on Alicante for some unknown reason.

Yes when we flew there it was with British Midland.

Valencia certainly. But Madrid is a niche tourism market so I can’t see Jet2 flying there. Likewise Ryanair. It is a shame as it is a great destination.

I wasn't thinking Jet2 specifically. I understand that Madrid is a big interlining airport for flights to Latin America, so Iberia, or an airline who code shares with them could cover the city break and long haul interlining market, but once again the emphasis is on travelling to MAN.

Only real option for that is Iberia/Iberia Express and maybe Air Europa. The former only only London, Manchester and Edinburgh seasonally. Air Europa only fly to London. Pretty sure as well that Iberia Express at Manchester aren't even daily yet. They did operate to Cardiff for a year but that wasn't a great success so that might have put them off operating from smaller airports.

Realistically the airport need to be targeting a few hub airports for interlining. Istanbul would be ideal going east and Dubai or Qatar, but these are less likely in my opinion. Frankfurt or Munich should also feature on their list. Non-hub routes, I would like to see something year round to Scandinavia probably with Ryanair. I think there is also scope for somewhere like Hamburg, Tirana(up and coming), and Athens.

Holiday routes, I feel Cape Verde has got to come at some point, as well as a route(s) back to Egypt. Others in the mix maybe La Palma and possibly somewhere in Tunisia.

Let’s hope some of our wishes come true.

LIS is likely, it got announced by Jet2 but then Covid hit. Slots could be an issue.

I think Germany / Scandinavia are hot spots to target.

Spain - VLC & RMU, along with more capacity to BCN.

ATH, IST, definitley.

I’ve seen Sky Express looking to expand into the UK market, play their cards right, could be similar to Sun Express going for the leisure market.

So yeah these are my thoughts for Leeds summer 2025 .Because Leeds is near Liverpool and Manchester and not far from EMA I cannot see much happening however hopefully I’m correct in what I’m saying.

Here⬇️
Ryanair
Agadir-2 weekly
Lisbon -2 weekly
Gran Canaria 1 weekly
Knock 1 weekly
Cork-2 weekly
Derry-1 weekly

EasyJet
Palma Majorca 3 weekly
Amsterdam 2 weekly
Nantes 2 weekly

Corenden?
Antalya 2 weekly
Dalaman 1 weekly

I cannot see any international routes happening next summer however I can see Eurowings maybe putting a slot in for Dusseldorf or Prague but nothing much more than that personally

In my humble opinion I look at it this way….if Play are using the smaller airports and not MAN

Lisbon would be nice but from what I hear there are no slots for FR hence the reason O’Leary wanted to reopen Montijo airport but TAP were not happy and kicked up a fuss with the government who backed them.

Noticed a comment by a member in leeds skyscraper forum suggesting we are possibly in for big news in 2025 regarding many previously served destinations reintroduced plus new destinations announced by a potential carrier! Could be just someone making things up or who knows, but thought id mention it in here.
Or perhaps someone has read my Consultative Meeting update and posted on that forum, because that's basically what I reported.

All it's, buts and maybe's though at the moment.

I have absolute respect for whoever posted on there as in the past it was HQ for the anti LBA trolls.

Skyscraper was how I found this place however many years ago, no doubt someone on here who posted something of interest. I forgot it existed!

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
