Im sick of seeing the word "done" lolShouldn't survey messages be moved to another thread as I keep getting excited seeing new messages in Route Development only to click on to see another person has filled in the survey ((((((
I look forward to that day. Only hope I live long enough for it to happenJust wait until you are all seeing something proper in this thread................
Makes you wonder why Loganair don't do something similar from Leeds, surely our route has more potential than Teesides.
It seems to me that Loganair are doing at Teesside exactly what Flybe did at DSA, and probably with the same eventual outcome. There is no doubt they would carry far more pax to LHR from LBA than Teesside, but LBA don't go down the same route of incentivisation and encouragement that some airports are prepared to do.I cant see a subsidy being that decisive. It would have to be very substantial and does Teeside have the budget?
Loganair must be under the impression that mme-lhr with a subsidy is more profitable than lba-lhr without one, in other words even with the extra passengers a service from lba would assure it still wouldnt be financially attractive. Otherwise they would abandon mme in favour of lba.
It still suggests that the lba-lhr route isn't feasible without a subsidy. I can see mme being boosted by the tie up with BA though.
I agree with you, especially regarding the need for a BA code share, but airlines aren't normally shy about a 'dead cert' so it makes you wonder why they haven't taken the opportunity. Same applies to the bdh route, this was ostensibly a cash cow but carriers weren't exactly queuing up to take it over when flybe went under. I cant help thinking the route development team at the airport arent trying hard enough they need to get lba into the limelight and all these opportunities under the noses of the airlines. Cant help when your boss is leading from the other side of the world.Of course it is.
If an airline operated a suitable schedule in normal times, on a code share with BA, with a slightly smaller & more economical aircraft such as an E190, their loads would be excellent with many flights full.
A night-stopper is essential plus an airline that is committed to making it work and not regularly cancelling flights or changing flight times to ones that miss half the connections., As BA did all too often. The demand is there if the product is right.
