With a BA night stopping A319 service, connections and direct T5 access I’m sure our shuttle would have been successful. However they chose other routes such as Inverness over LBA for the night stopper.

What’s done is done, I don’t want a flash in the pan service, I’d rather wait for the correct airline to return.

The Logan MME-LHR is receiving subsidy to operate.

The problem I think last time was the flight times were bad. I used that flight once to Heathrow and was full both ways. But most if not all of those people had connecting flights later on in the day. The timings wouldn’t be good for people going to London to work for the day or even a day out in London. Ideally would be better to have a night stopper as they would provide better flight times and hopefully better performances loads wise as it enables both people getting connections and people heading to London for the day to have good flight times which suits the vast majority.

Another thing I would add is that they have to get luggage to people at a reasonable amount of time, waiting longer for bags than the actual flight puts people off.

We must assume the airlines are aware of all these points but still they dont jump onto the Lhr route. Something doesnt add up.

All if this ignores the availability if slots at economical rates.

Let's not forget that BA suspended the route as Covid hit. With aircraft that size and far less international travel, plus LBA not allowed to handle red list traffic, it's hardly a surprise they haven't considered re-starting the route, but never say never.
Frankly, Cityflyer would have been perfect with 100 seat jets operating maybe 3 or 4 each way each day, in normal times..

It's not really a red list travel issue since anyone coming in from a red list country to LHR would stop there and do the hotel quarantine. They wouldn't be allowed to travel on to a domestic connection. It would only be an issue for direct international routes coming in to LBA.

It is very much due to international connections. These are completely dead atm with large parts of the world pretty much closed for travel. So until that substantially changes the route will not restart - assuming it does restart of course.

I don't think BACF are allowed to operate in to LHR due to union agreements - although there were changes last year and I am not completely clear whether this was changed.

Does LBA have a marketing team?

In the last 48 hours, both BA & Easy have put flights on sale to BHD/BFS - there is zero mention on LBA fbook or website as at 1220 today. That's 2 new carriers serving the airport, one maintaining a key route & the other launching a new one.

I would be shouting it from the rooftops immediately, especially in these dire times. BHD have promoted it very quickly, such P.P.Performance from LBA!

Takes minutes to bash out an announcement with links to booking engines.

Excuse me while I go eye roll into oblivion.

 As if by magic 10 minutes after this post... something appears on Fbook, but they just shared a link to an article from the T&A, that well respected and always accurate media outlet. Can they not even be bothered to put out their own Press Release? :cautious:

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
