They know it. We all know it. LBA management know it. It beggars belief therefore that not a single airline has picked up LBA - FRA since the demise of Brown Air's service all those years ago. It is a route crying out to be operated but Lufthansa's love affair with MAN continues to mean nothing from them on this side of the Pennines. Somehow it is difficult to see BMi Regional coming back. Their old management might have done so, but they appear to have totally lost interest in LBA when they were taken over by the new management. Flybe seem the most likely to me and the route would suit an Embraer 175 I think.

You wouldn't want bmi regional at the moment. Their biggest UK base is Bristol and they cancel flights nearly every day, often several a day - reportedly because of a lack of available aircraft and crews.

BMI Regional seem to be giving Eastern a run for their money when it comes to securing top spot in the shambles stakes. They are a distant memory from what they used to be when they operated from LBA. If only these two airlines could get things right because there is such a market for routes with the size of aircraft they operate -not just from LBA but we know we know we are crying out for FRA from LBA. There is a lot of doom and gloom doing the rounds from a few UK airports just now so I for one am satisfied things are as stable as they can probably be at LBA just now. Let's hope TRN does well and if TXL is to be axed then a replacement carrier can be found. How about BMI Regional twice a day on FRA with a TXL in between? What was that Bigman posted elsewhere about a "tin hat on now"! Wishful thinking helps keeps us all going.

Wishful Thinking....a great track by China Crisis. I must admit that BMI Regional would fit the bill nicely as a potential operator for FRA.

Reinstatement of routes!!
Just been looking at 'Welcome to Yorkshire' publication 'Y Heritage' which came with yesterday's paper- very interesting. However, at the back is a map and 'How to get here'. Under the section 'Yorkshire by air' apart from DSA and Flybe being Welcome to Yorkshire's official airport partner and airline it refers to LBA - 'is our busiest air gateway, with flights from Aberdeen, Belfast, Bristol, Exeter, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Gatwick, Newquay, Plymouth and Southampton'. Out of the 10 routes only 3 still exist and some ceased over 10 years ago and no mention of LHR!!!
Either grossly incompetent journalism, or perhaps they know about a resurgence of domestic routes!!

I attended the Consultative Committee meeting today but there was no news given regarding new routes, although that is normal practice. All such information is treated as Commercial in Confidence until announced. All we were told was the new Jet2 routes already announced for the winter (Turin) and Summer 2019 (Chania, Bourgas & Izmir) plus Enfidha for Thomas Cook, which I did say was coming previously as it was announced at the last meeting in March. All I can say is that Airport Management did say that they very much hope to be able to make some announcements soon regarding new business orientated routes.

Thanks for the update Heather.

Interesting news regards the Business orientated routes. Lets hope they happen!

Was anything said about Eastern Airways recent withdrawal of the Aberdeen route and reduced Southampton service, or getting a replacement route to Berlin seen as our resident based airline Jet2 are axing it in January?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
