Well the out going David Laws was the manger of the airport when Loganair axed the Glasgow route and left.
I wonder if they would be welcomed back to LBA with open hands, afteral it was connected to flybmi whom left LBA managerment with a bitter pill to swoller after they went bust...

And no doubt getting paid twice by many customers for the same flight!
A pretty good move closing Fly Bmi then transferring the aircraft to Loganair and picking up the best routes they had.

Yeah good deal putting flybmi into administration. I bet all those people & companies whom either lost out or are owned money don't agree with that though! Its a bit of a S--T trick in my book, but it's how big companies work now-a-days.

Going back to routes from Leeds in the future I think ADP (Air Passenger Duty) has killed any chance of getting domestic routes reinstated to the likes of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Exeter, Cardiff, Bristol or Glasgow

So we have to travel within the Uk by train ! probably standing up most of the way.
I cannot even get around in a light aircraft these days as most airfields with decent facilities charge a fortune for landing fees and mandatory handling. Aviation fuel nearly £8 a gallon and maintenance costs unbelievable.

If the so called ECO warriors get there way, or if Labour Party get back into power anytime soon it wouldn't be long until you'll have to pay extra Tax to get on a diesel locomotive, or pay extra fuel duty to fly your light aircraft

And now Virgin Trains are wanting to try and ban standing on long distance journeys, treating the booking of these journeys like an airline booking. The only thing that is likely to achieve is to get more people in their cars. APD too high to fly for some. Just where will this domestic travel destruction stop?

But luckily, as far as we are concerned Virgin only operate to London from Leeds (OK there is the 07:08 Leeds - Aberdeen). Cross Country do the Plymouth - Aberdeen/Glasgow corridor.

Loganair would nice, so yes A300boy if you get to see JH at some point, please see if you can persuade him to come back!!!

I read that too, and really couldn't follow it. You will always have people at the last moment or for a change of plan just turn up at a station to go.

I suppose the policies to at least some point are designing in London by people who don't travel beyond there and have little upstanding of how difficult , slow and sometimes expensive it is travelling around the UK

Lead by Donkeys Under the Conservatives the UK signed up to the Paris Climate Agreement so we will all be taxed whatever the future holds. The idea that Labour somehow taxes more is a fallacy as it is very much more a case of a realignment of the tax system rather than taxing more.

And surely any transport system that carries multiple people rather than cars containing one or two people is far more economical and environmentally effective. Is there any were where you can obtain the fuel cost per head for rail vs air or car vs air travel?

Even more luckily Virgin don’t operate the east coast main line anymore.

And not the West Coast for much longer but they have been very good on that, just Stagecoach have upset the authorities

Yes I did thanks. 91105 on 1A13 07:40 off Leeds and 91106 on 1D17 at 14:51 off Peterborough.

I think the name is supposed to be a crafty branding play on words, ie - you’ve got a slow coach, we’ve got ‘a zoomer’. Given that the Azuma is seen as route development benefiting both Leeds and Bradford, I suppose we can just about get away with it on this Leeds Bradford Route Development thread. Especially if the LBA Parkway Station ever gets built, which would no doubt be served by Azumas.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
