That said, we had plenty if 747s with 4 axle set up, and the odd DC10 with 3 although they are shorter than the 777 300 so probably less if an issue.

Some aircraft that have 4 sets of main undercarriage have the ability where some/all of the whole wheel "block" can turn so the aircraft can turn tighter corners. A bit like on some cars where the rear wheels turn the opposite direction to the front wheels.

Think the A380 has it, but I'm not sure if the 747 or DC10 did.

I think that is a good point Ap1995, but something to consider with the Pakistan flights is the extended family wish to send off and meet and greet at arrival, so not just the impact of the people flying. Often people have been away for an extended period, or a festivity, so the family want to be there for home coming. So this type of flight generates more of that than regular sun flights, as people arriving on those may have made their own way.
That said, I feel the airport will cope just fine, if the flights are timed to quieter periods.

Think its worth baring in mind, Jordan Aviation A330 holds 237PAX according to wiki, this is no different to a Jet2 B757 235PAX arriving and at one point we had 4 based here. hopefully the arrivals process will be fine in this regard.
That seems low, must be mixed class. On a route like this I think they need a higher proportion of economy seats.

Unless they fill it with underbelly Cargo ;)

Also dont forget to multiply everyones baggage allowance by 2 if not 3.
Yes i guess less economy pax = more cargo space resulting in bit more profit.
Pakistan is middle east so not the A330s max capable flying distance so less fuel required, together with the A330s bigger wings and good takeoff performance its an ideal aircraft.

It's just my first instinct is this is a 'stack em high, sell em cheap' route, get as many in as you can to ensure its viability. I know good money is made from sales of 1st and Business tickets but is this really that kind of route? I could see the front part of the aircraft being virtually empty.

If my information is correct, PIA (A310) had 195 economy and 12 in business, so roughly 5% were business class. I would suggest this is the maximum proportion that Jordan ought to offer.

This is why I would much prefer TK. Able to fill narrow bodied aircraft with so many connection possibilities. Could easily fill an A321 alone on connections to Middle East.

I would say any flight to Pakistan would have to be direct to compete with services from Manchester, likewise I don't see many people flying from LBA via IST or any other intermediate point to get to a destination that's served direct from Manchester. Having said that TK serve quite a few places not served from the North by direct flights so would definitely be a useful addition to our portfolio.

never underestimate the attraction of a cheap ticket. Pegasus and Turkish do a roaring trade on Pakistan connections, and Air Blue still did really well and carved a good market when they had the A321 via Trabzon.

the allure of a direct flight and a wide body is a good attraction for sure, but I’d personally say Turkish could be so much more beneficial for LBA as a whole over a PIA/Jordan aviation flight.

I'm hoping with a single class cabin they will be able to offer low fares and a direct service, thereby maximising the chances of success.

I wouldn’t knock either severice. We have nothing confirmed yet, I wouldn’t begrudge a PIA service at all. Direct is always a favourable option, a wide body long haul direct route is what LBA needs and could attract others.

TK isn’t really a strong rumour so I think we need to focus our conversation on PIA and hopefully something with come into fruition. In a perfect world we would have both airlines. It could encourage them..? Who knows!

Hopefully if the Pakistan flight materialises and does well, it will encourage the likes of Turkish to move forward with any potential flights. TK I feel would do very well from LBA, a good product, excellent connections, good hub airport. All of this could tap into diaspora markets, as well as long haul traffic further east, Africa and South America, as all are serviced very well.

RE: TK, I would also add cosmetic medical tourism to that list. That industry has boomed, especially from UK tourists.

One of the best things about TK is their use of narrow bodied aircraft. Their smallest is A319 (but they only have 6) so it would either be A320 or B737-800. The 737-800 having 147 economy seats over an A320 with 141 and both have 12 business seats in that config.

So could easily work a couple times of work with connections to the Middle East, Africa and Far East as you say, plus plenty of O/D for the IST market also.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
