Unless the rumoured jordan/swissport and 14a stand for A330 was for the flights which moved from Manchester to Doncaster until September? Maybe they were preparing for this flight or it moves from donny due to the uncertainty of closure in October?
Who knows? But I think LBA has only just marked out the new parking stand so they must be expecting something in the near future.

Amongst all this about IPS we must not rule out the possibility that LBA management have other irons in their fire re A330's, there are after all various other airlines that could potentially come to LBA with one, contributors on here regularly hope for Turkish to make an appearance, they uses 330's into Manchester albeit -300's, and lets not forget Jet2 do have them on lease over the hill - at least having the parking space and handling equipment would give options for anyone interested. Additionally, would a 787 fit in the said parking space?? Just a thought....

IPS need to not only pay their customers the full refund and any compensation due, but re-book them on other carriers if they request it, and issue an apology. They then need to give regular updates on progress towards the launch and, crucially, ensure that joint announcements are made with all four airports which needs to also include details of the carrier. Maybe then, people and travel agencies might forgive and forget. After all, the options for travel between the UK and Pakistan are limited, and PIA may find when they eventually return, that their misdemeanours are not forgotten and that people opt for an alternative carrier. Let's hope there is one, operating from LBA!
IPS absolutely need to refund and compensate their customers (can they afford to do this?), but to think that this will be forgiven and forgotten, whilst passengers will not forget the misdemeanours of PIA is ludicrous. PIA have maintained a continuation of service to LHR, BHX and MAN throughout their troubles. When PIA are given the go ahead to re-start UK services (under their own operating licence), this will be because they have fulfilled CAA requirements. This will add to confidence in the airline. PIA or IPS? I know which one I would rather trust my money and booking with!

14A has been there for years!

As I recall the Balkan A330 was the first to use it in 2015 then of course the Canadian C17 a few years later. It’s a pain in the arse taking up both stands 13/14 as well has hindering operations on 12 and 15.

LBA should have kept the original remote mars stand layout with stands 20 and 23 perfect for larger aircraft.

Thanks for your kind comments Kevin. If I am to be told my thoughts are ludicrous then I will in future keep them to myself. And there was I thinking this forum allowed people to give an opinion.

Silly me! And from a moderator too!!

Users are entitled to share their views weather you agree with it or not which I would have thought you know as you’re a moderator.

Anyways onto IPS as mentioned it gives them plenty of time to get their a330 ready and in service by October/November time.

The announcement says October. However, by later in the year Jordan Aviation might be looking for work if PIA get their approval to fly here again. And my understanding is that Jordan Aviation is the airline that approached Swissport at LBA. It may be that they were the proposed carrier but have not been able to proceed for whatever reason. I guess we will never know the truth behind it all. No point in me asking LBA. I have written twice already and they are saying nowt!!
Jordan did approach Swissport when they were trying to locate flights from MAN, but with no Cargo facilities at LBA and a 220 tonnes take off wait, DSA made more sense all round.

Exactly, I was expressing my opinion! It may surprise you, but moderators are also allowed to express their opinion, whether you like their views or not.
What applies to one, applies to all.

Lack of cargo facilities is going to be a significant issue for any wide body operator, other than holiday airlines.

Of course no mention of rerouting for those who have now had their bookings cancelled. They are obliged to offer a reroute even when on other airlines, a refund should not be the only option.

And also no mention of potentially compensation they may be due if informed of the cancellation within 14 days of the flight.
It all smacks of lack of planning. To cancel flights with less than 2 weeks notice places extra very costly responsibilities on the carrier in terms of compensation due to passengers. I hope they had the necessary bonds and insurance in place.

Given flights had been on sale for several months there are thousands of disgruntled passengers, many of whom will have to re arrange flights at short notice and I suspect wont trust IPS in future. Its a debacle!

Let me throw any airline into the hat!!!!
Their first aircraft was delivered to Birmingham yesterday, a former Air Europa A.330 now registered G-KJAS.
No it wasn't but hopefully it will arrive today at BHX, this for Hans Airways from BHX-ATQ.
IPS is to Pakistan and nothing to do with PIA and will now start LBA & EMA to Pakistan later in the year
PIA continue to use Jordan from BHX, MAN, LHR & DSA

Hopefully the above makes sense

From what you say we need to focus on MSN 814

Just picked up the theme of things on this page. I think that if White Heather does keep her thoughts to herself, then this Forum will be the worse for it. those are my thoughts for what they are worth.
I think it’s just an issue with the written word. It’s hard to project (or conversely) understand the context or intent of words sometimes, and think this is just a case of that.
Many a time have I written or read a short message and it’s been misinterpreted or taken out of context either by me or someone else.

From all of this the only thing that is ludicrous is that IPS were going to start flights in August. As enthusiasts and supporters of LBA we all hoped they would but always in the back of our minds was the thought it wouldn’t happen. Whether it was or will ever be a goer who knows but the silence from LBA themselves is pretty ominous as to the real intentions of IPS.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
