Forget talking about leisure flights at night. That was pre 2003, Jet2 easyJet Ryanair come along and brought the dinosaurs that were Thomson, First Choice, My Travel etc into the 21st century with so much flexibility rather then set days. Most of those have not survived ....

More importantly:

Emirates has 787-8's coming. A321XLR could it be done? I'd rather a full service carrier serve us over Wizz Air.

Its not a good passenger experience though turning up at the resort at 3/4am and returning passengers arriving at the airport at an awful time as well!
Public transport may be limited at those hours, out of hours car hire charges etc
My post was only suggesting a solution to having very few night slots (if any) available. You're right, it's not a great time to fly but if it would allow additional flights then why not.

I absolutely don't disagree. For Leeds though it would be a way of utilising fewer night slots. Hopefully we won't require these kind of movements but it demonstrates you can operate more flights outside of the restrictive night hours if necessary.
You can - the key question is whether today's customer will actually buy flights at those times.

There's a price to everything, but there is no saving in fuel or other operating costs by flying at night - indeed some down-route airports levy surcharges for night flights now. There's also an active detriment to crew productivity as the Flight Time Limitation rules and fatigue risk management schemes make night flying so inefficient.

The only benefit is on aircraft utilisation. That's a smaller part of the overall picture than it used to be, given the increases in the cost of everything else combined with the deep discounts on fares you have to offer to make night flights attractive to the customer.

Despite the good progress on several fronts including Ryanair, Jet2 and easyJet of late, I have a nasty feeling about Wizz Air. The programme is now so small as to be inconsequential in their world, and I think they have another UK airport courting them heavily which would not be helpful to LBA's destiny. One to watch, for sure.

By the looks of things in the UK the only sizeable operations are LGW LTN & LPL. As it’s been quoted before, LBA is preforming better than DSA did. They have applied for increased slots for S25 so hopefully abit more from them would be great.
I'd like to think I'm wrong, but have a feeling that a sizeable operation at MAN in place of LPL and LBA might materialise.

If they do that, they'll give up a sizeable market in this area where there are loads of Polish and Romanian residents. Ryanair already compete on several routes and I'm sure they'll just pick up what Wizz leave behind.

Ah but will they? Ryanair have a tendency to follow the competition so they're more likely to move the same routes to Manchester, or increase the Manchester offering. The LBA lurgy strikes again.

This rumour thread is supposed to be positive rumours about new routes for LBA not routes leaving LBA. Well on that delightful rumour I think I'll just go watch the TV.

That isn't how I see it, and after today, it's not how LBA see it either.
I hope so too.

I just seen an article online that says PIA maybe interested in serving Bradford again!
Then just on Friday saw on LinkedIn that they have being in discussions with Glasgow as well

So in theory they could serve both markets using Boeing 777.
Ok I know what you’re going to say next, Not off our short runway!

But here’s how it could be easily done.

Islamabad-Leeds
Leeds-Glasgow
Glasgow-Islamabad

I’ll say no more…

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
