Wait until the LS A21N's appear and we have SSH and SID et al.

Here we go again with those jet2 A321Ns haha SSH be great addition, where is SID? haha

SID is Sal in Cape Verde.

@LBA4EVER I really couldn't resist the A21N comment. If we had a nice flat runway with an extension and pushed back TDZ's we would be absolutely laughing
EasyJet flies to SSH from some airports doesn't it? We might not need Jet2 if EasyJet can do it?

I wonder if we can now rule out any Loganair ops at Leeds/Bradford seen as they have just announced a new 2x aircraft base at Southampton?

They have also announced 2 new routes from other side of hill (Manchester) to Southampton 3x daily & Exeter 1x daily.
Its very disappointing, especially given the airport were very positive about Loganairs recent visit.

It may be that it is just to be announced later. Easyjet put in routes from MAN and LPL and it didn’t stop them announcing routes from LBA at separate times. Maybe it will be announced nearer to the opening of the extension?
Its only 3 weeks to the start of Summer schedules. I think if there was going to be a new Leeds base they would have announced it by now. Maybe they will announce it later in the year in advance of the Winter season starting.

It's far too early to write off a Loganair presence at LBA. The SOU base was probably planned long before their CEO visited LBA in December and the additional routes from MAN have nothing at all to do with a possible LHR route from Leeds. And EXT from Leeds was never on the agenda. The others being talked about were SOU (which could be operated by a SOU based aircraft), and ABZ, and possibly NQY.

It was slso highly unlikely that we would get a base ready for this summer. The winter season was far more likely, giving more time to source the aircraft, organise the base and put on sale the flights.

As great as it would be, I would prefer to wait for the rail link to be operational first to give the route the best chance of success. I know we might be waiting a while but we'll be waiting a lot longer if it starts and ceases soon after.

Surely, even without a rail link , there's enough passenger demand to guarantee a success to LHR on a 2 or 3 x daily ATR72 with its very low running costs, provided there's a code share with BA. We could be waiting until 2027, at least, for any rail link. This is Leeds! When they've done redesigning the station to save costs, they'll no doubt have yet another consultation!

I'm not suggesting there isn't but I just want to see a new Heathrow route have the best possible chance of success.

The announcement of the SOU base is very likely to mean that any renewed presence at LBA has gone into the far edges of the lawn, if not the long grass. They had apparently looked at several options but rumours of an Emerald base at Southampton including SOU-MAN and Scotland routes had driven the decision to SOU and this happened in a fairly short space of time.

With aircraft in relatively short supply and the pilot market remaining quite difficult for recruitment, it's unlikely that a second new base would be set up on top of the one already announced for SOU.

Although you can never say never, I'd be very surprised indeed if this happened any time soon.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
