▶️ Video Review: Birmingham Airport Videos

I could smell the kerosene just by watching that. Them were the days. Thanks for sharing.
Not my video, I should have given credit to egbw.
When I see these older videos, I often look to see if I can see myself, as I spent a lot of time at BHX in those days.

That 727 😍😍😍😍😍😍!

I noticed one flight which looks almost identical in terms of both livery and plane to that airline's current flights into BHX - everything else seems from a different planet. Won't say which airline so you have another chance to watch the vid!

I know the one you mean, I didn’t realise they were operating that aircraft into BHX back then.
Love the Monarch 757 - I have a vague memory of flying one BHX-VCE around the same sort of time.

Great video
I can remember when Swissair took delivery of the F100 & it was announced the new super efficient & quiet jet of the future !

Talking of engine noise, this video is only 10 years old but the airport certainly new it had been visited, VC10 with RR Conways in this case. Even the car alarms in the factory parking by Sheldon Park couldn't withstand the might! Gary

I was there for this and remember all those car alarms going off 🙂

Such an amazing sound.

The VC-10. Quite simply the most beautiful subsonic jetliner ever!

Having the engines at the back I think brings out the elegance of the wing/body combination well. For me another beauty is the 727, here at BHX 5 years back (has JT8D engines whose original design dates to 1963) .
Am I correct that Ryan Kirkpatrick is a member of this forum?

Back in the day, when jets were jets, the soundtrack and elegance of the classic airliner was unbeatable. Thank you Ryan for filming and Garybrum for posting.

Sadly (being from a younger generation) I haven’t yet had an opportunity to witness aircraft like this in person…I feel lucky to have witnessed the 747-400 and 757 while they were still around in decent numbers.

2Excel Aviation whose 737 pop into BHX occasionally (one's here now) still have two 727 based in Teesside, but they're allocated to "oil spill" work.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
