I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and have just booked an outbound flight to Jersey with Jet2 in September. The route was right, the price was right, the time was right and I had some paypal balance to use. I am returning to LBA from Guernsey later in the week with Aurigny.

Snowman, you say Jet2 doesn't use the hotel you normally use. Are you sure? I was once told Jet2 don't publish all the hotels simply because there are so many l and if there's one not featured on their web site it might still be available if you call their call centre. It's always worth a try next time?

...are you not telling them you're coming!

Family booked last minute on tomorrow's BE738, returning Sunday on BE731 due to a bereavement and had to go to/from Belfast, Dublin was out of the equation. Charged in the region of £648 for 5 people (£129.60 each) hand luggage only. Suffice to say they miss the competition from Jet2.

Is £129.60 high for return flights from LBA to Belfast which are last minute bookings, and therefore likely to be expensive anyway? It isn't a flight I have ever taken but to me, that is good. It costs more than that to get a one way standard rail ticket from Leeds to Kings Cross!

A single to Widnes ex Euston (Virgin Trains) last week was £110 for and that was 2nd class also.

*My mistake. It was £648 for 4 people (£162 each) hand luggage only. More the fact FlyBe can charge what they like as there's little competiton on the route than anything else.

Having a quick look on the Flybe app, many flights in the not too distant future are not very expensive at all and, given a little flexibility, return flights are available in the next few weeks for £59.98 return which, I believe, is their lowest price. Obviously, when booking so close to departure date, there is going to be a cost implication, particularly on routes that are business oriented as flights tend to be booked right up to the day of departure. The alternative of course would be MAN where return flights for Thu - Sun are in the region of (at their cheapest) £133.99. Bearing in mind they have competition from EasyJet (whose flights are completely sold out for tomorrow), I don't think the LBA price compares too badly. For the record, if you wanted to fly from MAN to BFS on Friday and return on Sunday, the lowest cost (according to the EasyJet App) would be £221.48 per person. If you wanted to simply find the cheapest combination, it would be to fly outbound from MAN with Flybe and to fly inbound to MAN with EasyJet. The lowest price in this instance would be £110.57. As with anything, it depends on flexibility and convenience.

Hi a300 boy. Let me know how you get on in Birmingham. I am down there for a few days in July so it would be useful to have some feedback. Donkeys years since I have been there.

Perhaps a bit off topic - but - I keep getting marketing e-mails from BA saying that they haven't seen me for a while but would love to do so! Well..... let's have a late evening arrival and you will see lots of me!!!

Booked with Ryanair today 4 nights in Chania on the 5th July. £160 each with a 3* hotel.
Also flying KLM to Bangkok via AMS in September.

Arrived on the ZB1261 Dalaman on Weds afternoon. Monarch were great really, no fuss, a slight delay on the return departure that's all. Cabin crew were good, very helpful. There were nearly 50 empty seats on the outbound ZB 1260, and probably 35 on the return, so after take off, cabin crew allowed people to move round and spread out for a bit more space, a rare luxury, can't remember the last time we had empty seats on a flight!
Mind you, we were only on Monarch cos our original Thos Cook (op by Sun Express) fly from DSA got cancelled, which I found out about from an employee at DSA , not from TC. Thos Cook cust service were absolutely shocking, & to cut a long story short, it took me 7 weeks to get my money refunded. Never again will I book Thomas Cook. Monarch, however, I would happily use again.
Still pains me to say, as a Leeds born , long term LBA supporter that LBA now needs serious improvement to match the passenger throughput, it took over an hour to from getting off the plane (air bridge !) to getting on the car park courtesy bus, immigration was fairly rapid, with 5 or 6 officers on, but baggage reclaim was well slow. Then, at 5pm, we had over 90 minutes drive to get us back to Doncaster. This is why I'll use DSA first, whenever available, followed by LBA, then East Mids & Bham. Manchester is now an absolute last resort for us, can't do with the trawl over the Pennines any more !

I have just booked a return journey to LHR with BA in July. Details should be in the box below this post! Whilst I was again absolutely infuriated that there is no late Northbound on the Sunday, I was at least flexible enough on this occasion to be able to book the midday rotation. I would just like to point out that the flights were only a few quid more than the train, so I shall enjoy my complimentary beer and nuts that little bit more.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
