I should add that the above video is in conjunction with Free Radio who are running a competition.

Monarch have loads of adverts on the sides of busses, I think every number 97 that I've seen today has been plastered in yellow.

Thomson also have quite a few posters going up on bus stops advertising their long haul. "Why drive hundreds of miles to start a journey of thousands of miles?" and "Your trip to paradise does not start on the M1 south." There was one more but I can't remember it now.

Lovely ad! The 787 sure is a beauty, i love the wing curve (y)

I've seen some Thomson ads but haven't seen the Monarch ones, if you're quick enough Ray could you please may take a sneaky pic?

I'm normally driving so don't get chance for pictures but I'll try and get something over the weekend.

In fairness the Monarch ads aren't very exciting. No routes are mentioned just that there are X numbers of seats for sale at £XX.99. They just look quite striking with the bright yellow ad against the deep red of the bus :)

However Ray, you saw the advert and it registered that it was Monarch - the small print comes later when the potential customer follows up on the advert. As for Thompson, why don't they practice what they preach? Thought about Goa next year, BUT only every two weeks from BHX and could not even get a 4 week holiday!!

Why do you need a 4 week holiday ?? They are every 2 weeks so you can have a 2 week holiday ?? There is no point going all the way to GOA for anything less than 2 weeks so perfect in my opinion. :)

I saw a First Bristol double decker bus in the city today bearing a large advertisement for Monarch with, if I remember correctly, flights advertised from £29. BHX wasn't specifically mentioned but as it's the nearest Monarch airport to Bristol it would likely be the airport that enjoys any benefit from the advertisement.

I saw the same thing in Oxford a few days ago. A little more puzzling as I think people are more likely to travel to Gatwick or Luton for Monarch flights from Oxford rather than BHX.

To be fair, LTN and BHX are pretty similar in terms of car journey time from Oxford (according to Google Maps anyway).

Oxford - LTN: 1h14m
Oxford - BHX: 1h12m
Oxford - LGW: 1h20m

Plus if people around Oxford have multiple airports on offer with Monarch, they are more likely to choose Monarch over another airline that say operates from just one of those airports.

I have the pleasure of living in Coventry at the moment and over the last week about half the buses I've seen have had a Monarch advert. Let's hope all this advertising pays off.

Very true and hopefully people are heading to their website and discovering their new routes.

My only concern (and I'm not complaining) is that those who may have already done some research previously but not yet heard about the new routes may see the advert and think "Ah, Monarch. It's a shame that they don't fly to Valencia/Split/Naples/Stockholm/Porto....." I guess it's a national campaign though and I'm sure that they know what they are doing :)

As requested Sir :)

It's not a wonky image, the bus is genuinely going uphill :cautious:

Currently in Bristol and every bus I've gone past has the same Monarch advert that Ray posted! Birmingham Airport is the closest to Bristol out of Monarch's bases; I wonder how many people from the SW use BHX.

According to the latest CAA survey that has been published, which was for the year 2015, 473,000 passenger journeys involved travellers with origin or final destination in the South West. The South West was not broken down into areas so it's assumed that it refers to the government region of the South West which is the biggest in England in area and consists of the counties of Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall/Isles of Scilly. It's likely though that most came from that part of the South West nearest BHX.

The South West was the third most prolific area for BHX passengers after West Midlands and East Midlands.

Many people from South Wales also use BHX and it is Mid Wales's airport. I do know if you click on any Wales on TCX's website it will offer you flights from CWL, BRS and BHX but the last time i checked the last 2 were in England!

In the CAA survey I mentioned at #177 above 280,000 passenger journeys involved travellers with origin or final destination in Wales.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
