Anecdotal evidence I know but over the years I have spoken to many people who travel regularly to the likes of Poland and Romania from LTN when direct flights are available from Birmingham as Luton has a greater choice of frequency and the prices are usually cheaper.

Just as an example a one way flight to Bucharest on Nov 24th with Wizz from BHX is currently showing at £77.99, the same date from Luton is £34.99, less than half the price. From Luton you also have the choice of three flights per day compared to three flights per week from BHX. Even so Wizz generally get good load factors out of Birmingham and seem to be making decent money so the demand must be there but whether a potential BHX base would dilute LTN and to what extent only Wizz would know.

Loads everywhere do seem good for Wizz it's probably the same for each airport they fly to making money wise too with the cheap as chips model they have successfully implemented Europe wide.

I do hope so.

I get the feeling that the next few years will be mostly about LGW, I could see them going very big there. I've always thought that DSA was the most likely candidate for their first base outside of London, it seems a good destination for Wizz.

They look to be open to offers at the moment so who knows what will happen.
Lots of juggling about at the moment and like you say they have said they are open to offers.

I would think any UK base outside of London would be for 2 or 3 aircraft I guess the factor that would possibly play against Birmingham may be if easyJet got in first if they and if Jet 2 increased an already sizeable operation squeezing Wizz out however at present I assume that the airport still has fair amount of scope for more sand and sea after the demise of Monarch and others at the airport. Wizz would be certainly bringing sand and sea on top of the current Eastern Europe schedule the next question would be how they would work a schedule to suit both the summer and winter seasons with the allotted 2-3 based aircraft.

Deep cuts across the UK with even LTN losing 7 routes so at least we're not alone.

Krakow - Covered (for now) by 3x weekly Ryanair and 2x weekly Jet2.
Warsaw - We still have Ryanair to Modlin although that is down to just twice weekly for winter. There was interest from LOT a few years ago but I wouldn't expect them anytime soon.
Bucharest - From 8 flights per week to nothing, can only hope that Ryanair see potential but I won't hold my breath on that one.
Wroclaw - Could only be Ryanair but again I won't hold my breath for anything.

The losses keep stacking up and the already extensive list of lost destinations just keeps getting longer. Unless they can get some orange tails in sooner rather than later I really don't see where they can go from here.

I think we all need to wait and see on this one. I would be extremely surprised if we lost those routes and what makes me more surprised is which destinations have been dropped as those are the strongest routes, the Bucharest for example has solid passenger figures all year-round, I think if they sent an A330 for that service they'd fill it . I think it is more likely that Wizz are updating frequencies or moving aircraft. Let's all not be too disheartened at this point!

You never know by some miracle we might get some new routes.

Using TV or film personalities to promote a business is a very risky strategy. And while there was a certain charm and authenticity with George Clooney and his Nespresso adverts, i somehow don't think Gemma Collins will cut the mustard with Wizzair. The first, probably tactful, the second, more tacky....

Oh dear  personally I am not a fan of Gemma Collins, a z rated celebrity in my eyes, think she's a bit like Marmite, you either love her or hate her!

Guess it might attract people from Essex to fly with Wizz or the young females!! Apparently she tweet about her new deal and spelt the airline "Whizz Air"" need I say more??

Kevin and Jenny, your so lucky not knowing who she is!!! ;)

Another one here who has no idea who she is and from what I've read I don't think I'll bother doing any investigating.

I did notice an advert on the Wizz website with her image in the background, something about a diva travelling from Luton?

Yeah!! The great Leonard Rossiter and Cinzano down the boobs of Collins.

Why cannot Birmingham Airport come up with a memorable marketing campaign that Luton stumbled upon and we are talking about today?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
