Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
You have to look at the bigger picture. Wizz has a new boss who has been tasked with offloading loss making routes and turning the airline round. Just because Wizz has dropped routes from LBA doesn't means DSA would have kept them. Things have changed, Ryanair is also trying to muscle in on Wizz routes, not just from LBA but from other airports too which will impact Wizz. All we can do is hope that if Ryanair wins the don't offload the flights if Wizz has backs down.
I think Ryanair see Wizz as vulnerable at present. If they drive them off plenty of routes, they become even more vulnerable. It wouldnt surprise me at all if Ryanair then looked to buy them.

Yes but I can’t help but feeling that FR is becoming an unstoppable juggernaut their are everywhere after a recent visit to palma the amount of FR traffic was unbelievable every where you looked there as an FR aircraft maybe the Spanish airports are getting fed up with their tactics

The bubble bursts for almost every airline at some point. Let's even look at BA, they have kept pax on loyalty alone for far too long yet if you listen to feedback their product is declining year on year. There only seems to be transatlantic where they are better than competitors. So my point being how long can FR continue with their bully tactics? Yes it's proved very successful so far, but can it last. The only airline I have any long term confidence in is Jet2 as they seem to adapt. Oh how lucky we are to have them at LBA.
I would say some consolidation of some sort is inevitable

Lets hope Jet2, FR or Easy don't have any presence at DSA when/if it eventually opens.

Hopefully Wizz jump on LBA CLJ, then batter them over at MAN.. doesn't make sense to me personally to move from one very established airport and an established one, to a new one where competition is extremely high.

Likely hood of a DSA return seems even less likely if they do that.

I don't agree. Apparently the LBA CLJ loads have been consistently high. I would find it astonishing if FR didn't see this as an easy pick.
No one jumped onto the Vilnius route (I think it was Vilnius- certainly a Baltic destination) vacated by Ryanair and that supposedly had good load factors.

I hope that we dont lose routes and am concerned that the airports pax figures will take a significant hit.

It's a diminishing market, FR will see this as a victory over Wizz and will concentrate on running them out of MAN too. Can't see the routes being replaced from LBA or LPL.

If they move from LPL ( where they have just celebrated 20 years of ops ) and LBA , I see it as a very difficult avenue for them at Manchester. Ryanair are continuously at the heals at Liverpool, that will intensify at Manchester. There are other Eastern European carriers which im sure Liverpool and Leeds are talking to, however you still have predatory FR to deal with.

Strange though that there is absolutely no mention of this on the Dried Fruit Forum within either the Wizz or MAN threads.

If Wizz centralise at MAN to save money, they could be in for a nasty surprise if they think all their passengers will follow them there. If Ryanair opt to pick up the slack at LBA and at LPL they'll lose the vast majority of these passengers. What they'll get new at MAN remains to be seen. Even Wizz management are reported to have said that the majority of their LBA bookings live in the area around the airport.

Hope it’s not true, however, @CCGE29 who posted about it on the MAN thread always seems to be very well informed where developments at MAN are concerned.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
