If this report is correct, LBA has avoided being included in next winters cuts from both Bucharest, and Cluj, which is a good sign. Liverpool isn't so fortunate, with their Cluj route suspended.

Interesting reading. Presumably they will re-deploy the aircraft on more profiable/new routes. Makes you wonder though if there are less Romanians working abroad these days

By the number of Eastern Europeans on the A1 Airport bus from LBA into Leeds on a morning they must be. Bus is nice and overcrowded, bags on seats, passengers asleep on each other and it reeks of secondhand booze. Couldn't ask for a better commute!!!!!!

Just seen Wizz have announced Tirana from LPL, EDI & BHX with FR looking to be opening MAN, EDI & STN, would of been a good route for LBA to try.

Feels like both wizz and Ryanair were eyeing it up same time. Both have made same move. Will be interesting to see who survives.

Wizz have a sizeable base at Tirana right now, Ryanair do not. I think Wizz are more likely to survive, but we will see

Due to the continued delays, Cancellations and diverts Wizz Air Malta are rescheduling the The Cluj - Leeds flights from Friday, 4th August to hopefully help with it's reliability.

The route will continue to operate 3x weekly as follows.

In partnership with ACL, Maybe it's time that LBA becomes a level 3 slot coordinated airport
Surely It would help with avoiding this situation ever happening again?

The only thing the airport can do is submit a planning application to amend any restrictions. The Council have no power to amend or disregard a planning condition whilst GALBA will ensure that there is no chance of them simply if ignoring any transgressions by the airport.

This at least shows LBA and Wizz are talking and working together to resolve the problems. It's not just Cluj though is it? We had Bucharest cancelled a few days ago (completely), and we have had cancellations on Katowice and Wroclaw. Whether the Polish version of Wizz can do what Wizz Malta has done remains to be seen, but they too have late evening schedules and fairly frequent delays.

Looking at the planned winter 2023/24 schedule which a posted on here a few weeks back, it should solve most of Wizz Air's problems.

Hopefully with it been Wizz air Malta we will see those A320NEO’s.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely.
There are only 6x A320NEOs in the entire of Wizz Air, and all are based in Tirana (TIA). So unless we see TIA as a new route, then it’s unlikely we get to see one of Wizz Airs elusive A320NEO.

The Cluj base is made up of 5x A320CEOs and 2x A321NEOs.
