You are correct it was worldways the L1011. I seem to recall it having a blue stripe on it, was only a little one at westfield primary school at the time and seeing one takeoff, amazing what i can remember.I think it may have been Wordways and as far as I can remember Air Transat used 757s
Airtours (before My travel) flew in the occasional DC10 to cover for tech A320s.Not had many DC10s since? AOM/Challenge Air during euro96 and a mytravel one early 2000’s?
Fairly sure I posted a photo on here of a Worldways Tristar. It will be in LBA nostalgia photos somewhere. You are correct it was worldways the L1011. It really is amazing to think we used to have a weekly boeing747 operate in! Could do with some more of the big boys in!
I hope goldendays does not mind me answering this post.Who remembers when you flew to Spain in the 70’s & 80’s where you had your photo taken as you got off the plane. That’s how I know my first flight in Aug 76 was on a Dan-Air 727 to ALC. Talking to my parents years later they told me we were delayed 24 hours due to strikes and we had to sleep in the car at either EMA or BHX. My first LBA flight was the following year again in August to ALC. I‘m sure that flight was with Britannia. If anyone has a timetable for August 1977 and tell me how many flights there were to ALC and who operated them I’d love to know.
Did Airtours operate those? I remember MD83s, A320s and DC10s. The only A300s I personally recall at LBA were Iberia and never anything like that based. My old mind is remembering that at times we had an A300 qv or may be an A330. with I think Airtours (qv) when the based aircraft threw a wobbley. I remebere one over flying a site I was surveying in Bramley
I remember the aircraft that you mention, and was fairly sure that they also operated B757's and B767's. As for the A300/A330, I can't recall. A quick web search, shows that they had 5 A330's in their fleet (they also had a B747).Did Airtours operate those? I remember MD83s, A320s and DC10s. I assume you mean their first summer season from LBA, as Britannia were operating for many years before that.In their first summer season (1977)
In slightly more recent times, Onur Air also operated A300s on a pretty regular basisDid Airtours operate those? I remember MD83s, A320s and DC10s. The only A300s I personally recall at LBA were Iberia and never anything like that based.
Yes they did. I was more thinking of the early days post runway extension. In slightly more recent times, Onur Air also operated A300s on a pretty regular basis

I remember watching one land from Clayton (yes, Clayton near Queensbury). You could actually see planes landing and touching down on 14 from my living roomZB also showcased their A330s on an odd occasion.
These day trips were very popular in the 90’s. I think the company who operated them were called Transun. Do they still operate the Lapland charters? I personally did 3 day trips with them. Venice and Salzburg both on Airtours MD83’s from MAN and Iceland on a Caledonian A320 from BLK.Monarch graced our concrete with four Airbus 300s, G-MONS for a Bergen day trip 12 September 1995, G-MAJS for a Rome day trip 24 October 1995, G-OJMR for an overnight Rovaniemi 'see Santa' 16 December 1995, and G-MONR for a Rome 'Mighty Whites' European football visit 02 March 2000.

Two Monarch Airbus A330-200s on charters for the Ministry of Defence in September 2009. G-SMAN operated MON718P/9718 from Manchester to Paderborn on the 08th, and G-EOMA operated MON9719/719P on the 22nd from Paderborn to Manchester.ZB also showcased their A330s on an odd occasion.
I saw both the Monarch A330s go out to Paderborn and return. There's probably a photo of mine of the return flight somewhere in the LBA photo thread. Two Monarch Airbus A330-200s on charters for the Ministry of Defence in September 2009.
