And start of the Tea Factory the new regional HQ of the BBC, new Smithfields master plan announced, 33 floors approved in Broad Street and SBQ another step closer with the approval of the demolition. All in a week. There is no easing off.

Move over Salford, Digbeth is coming past on the fast lane 🤣🤣🤣

BBC Birmingham @Typhoo Wharf being stripped out and all the graffiti has been cleaned off. ,Looks better already ;-)

Also at the back fronting the canal, Digbeth Loc, new home to the BBC Masterchef is coming along nicely.

Great to see this much neglected part of Digbeth/Birmingham City Centre getting much needed regeneration.

To think that these developments in Digbeth as just the start of what will become one of the most creative locations in the UK and Europe. And a long neglected, but historically valuable area regenerated. It was after all the heart of the industrial revolution and the home of thousands of small family owned multi generation crafts industries.

The backdrop to the MasterChef studios on the old Banana Warehouse, looks great and will get better once One Eastside is up.

Owners of The Crooked House pub, that was burned and demolished last year, have been ordered to rebuild it.

That is really going to take some work. I doubt that there were any drawings of it's shape and layout, only photos.

Birmingham City owners Knighthead complete the purchase of a site for a proposed new home in nearby Bordesley Green.

I was always sorry to see the wheels park go, at it was such a useful facility. But if it is going to be reused I cannot think of a better use.

I don't think so Aviador, looool. A skyscraper is typically considered a habitable building over 150metres.

Which means Brum will go from 0 to 2 in the next few months ;-)

We have lots of buildings over 100 metres, including the fantastic The Mercian, however as it stands at 132metres, isn't counted in the cities Skyscraper League.

I know it can depend on the type of building for example office grade tends to have fewer floors compared with residential but I have always gone with 100m not 150m as the starting point for considering a building as a skyscraper. I don't suppose there's a hard and fast rule anyway. My last visit to Birmingham is some years ago now and even then I did consider Birmingham as having skyscrapers, as does Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool. That's my view anyway.

The great what is a skyscraper definition. It used to be 100 m. Then it became 150 m. Tall buildings are over 10 storeys.

Brum will soon join London and Manchester in having buildings over 150 m. Of the 47 skyscrapers in the UK 38 are in London and 9 in Manchester.

Should the ambition be there: super tall is 300 m and Mega Tall 600 m....

We have another 5 either approved or proposed. After a slow start, momentum gaining all the time, particularly given the height constraints imposed by the CAA.
