As we approach the final weeks of 2024, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a successful and busy year at Leeds Bradford Airport, which will hopefully end with record breaking passenger numbers.

We’ve launched services to Antalya with SunExpress, Bergen and Agadir with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Paris CDG with easyJet and Marrakesh and Bucharest with Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline, alongside frequency increases on our existing destinations.

Our LBA:REGEN project continues to progress at a rapid pace and will offer our customers and partners a modern, efficient terminal with fantastic new facilities improving the experience at LBA.

2025 promises to be an exciting year at LBA with the continuation of the REGEN project alongside new destinations, flights and breaking more passenger records as we continue to grow.

Many thanks to all our airline partners and stakeholders who have supported the Aviation team and LBA in 2024. It’s been a pleasure to work with you all this year. We look forward to working with you again and developing new relationships in 2025!

Surely such a travesty couldn't happen? You'd think LBA has the world's shortest runway going by the comments made in certain quarters.

I'm with you on this, it's not the runway that's the issue it's the touch down point that needs moving back to where it was before the extension was built. We all know there are big hurdles to overcome and cost would be a factor but with modern technology there must be a solution to this other than saying we will lose Cat3 capabilities on runway 32 as a result, or so I understand, due to a steeper decent. We now have a terminal to be proud of, even of not what we were expecting, more stands to be built and a runway which is to be resurfaced in the years ahead. We need to sort this runway situation out once and for all whilst we have owners who for once are looking to promote the airport and spend money on improving the customer experience. I"ll now follow Len Fish onto the nuclear bunker.

If they did relocate the touchdown point back to where it used to be ( they won't sadly) there's only one reason why the glideslope would become steeper , impacting Cat 3, and that's to protect all the people who chose to buy their home at the end of the runway.

Now if I could afford to live there and they announced the relocation of the touchdown point, with the 3 degree glideslope remaining and aircraft that bit lower as a result, I'd be yelling 'bring it on'! But that's just me.

I'm sure such a move would require planning approval and equally sure they wouldn't get it. They'd be more likely to get approval for a runway extension !

Best ones for LBA are still United with A321 to New York. If a NYC service does start, it should be to one of the main hubs close to the city or it’s doomed to fail. Imagine coming off of a 7 hour flight just to find yourself in the middle of Long Island!

A321's in Leeds. Oh no not this again.

But agree - United will be best for the feeder service. Especially at the NYC end and the endless connections that their hub could bring.

It's not the aircraft, it's the engine (and the airline) dictating what is acceptable.

Fully agree with your comments, whilst things are on a roll with the current terminal and apron improvements the management certainly should look into runway improvements, whatever folk say on here it is a major problem that can be part sorted with moving the TDZs.
But before im shouted at on here again im aware there is 2 sides to the argument!

I guess the problem there is even though the tech will be there you can't have just one or two airports with it while the rest use the current systems. That would be my take anyway.

Landing on Friday was butter smooth with easyjet and no reverse thrust just a gentle brake application and roll out
