FYI Eurowings does operate the A319 as they have the aircraft at Germanwings (x43) at its disposal. Germanwings is now just a name on a plane and Eurowings is the actual operating entity. In time the Germanwings livery will go and the aircraft painted into Eurowings livery. I have seen several Germanwings A319s about ... operating for Eurowings.

Fair point, well made. A Munich base for the airline is new however and would still require the transfer of an A319 from a traditional Germanwings base to Munich. Whether or not this will be the case, I am unsure. Additionally, as the announced Eurowings base at Munich will be operated by Air Berlin, this would not necessarily allow for an ex Germanwings machine to be used. On the other hand, Air Berlin does operate a small number of A319s but I am unsure as to whether any of these are or will be based at Munich.

Sadly it looks like Eurowings used LBA code as a slot holder at Munich for another route. If I remember correctly bmi regional did this a few times in the past, so the not the only airline to do it and there is nothing to stop others doing it again in the future.
Eurowings has announced the setting up of a base at Munich from 31 March 2017, over 30 routes. No mention of flights to LBA, sad to see the rumour didn't materialise. One for "believe it when you see it"

Don't be too disheartened chaps and chapesses. From what I can see, the core network of routes is aimed at destinations that will almost guarantee good loads and incomes. As far as a start up base goes, it is largely what one would expect. Undoubtedly, some of those flights will be used to interline, will probably replace some of the Lufthansa City Line operation and will be operated by Air Berlin. Looking into it further, most of the seasonal routes mirror those Air Berlin already operate out of Munich so, clearly, Air Berlin cannot compete with itself. Rather, the opening of the base will simply be the first stage of the integration of Air Berlin into Eurowings. As I said before, the whole organisation has got a lot of restructuring to do before it can start putting out for the likes of LBA. All in good time.

The following press release regarding LBA new routes fro summer 2017 appeared on the airports website News section yesterday.

LBA News - Summer 2017 Routes
1st February 2017

Summer 2017 is set to be even busier than ever at Leeds Bradford Airport, with new routes, even more capacity and a host of improvements set to be unveiled at the airport in time for the summer season.

Jet 2.com are introducing new routes to Berlin, Halkidiki, Naples, Almeria and Girona for the summer season in addition to Ryanair’s new routes to Warsaw, Gran Canaria, Vilnius and Bratislava. Thomas Cook are returning to LBA, with a wide range of package holidays on offer and Thomson have also extended their programme at Leeds Bradford Airport. We are delighted to be increasing the options and destinations for our passengers.

Our final Masterplan 2023 is set to be published this year, detailing the changes and developments we will be delivering at the airport to improve passenger experiences. Passengers will be able to enjoy the first stages of those changes this summer, with more light and space in the landside walkway and check-in area, extra security lanes, new retail units and improved toilet facilities.

The increased routes and capacity mean we now fly to more than 75 destinations across 25 countries. With nearly 22,000 flights taking off from LBA each year, we are set to surpass our current record of 3.5m passengers that flew from LBA in 2016.

Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director at LBA, said: “We’re really excited for what 2017 will bring for LBA and our passengers. Air connectivity is essential for business and leisure passengers and we are determined to ensure that both inbound and outbound travellers have the very best experience when flying through LBA.

Strange that they mention Dubai or Abu Dhabi from both DSA and LPL but not LBA, and that Toronto is mentioned but only from LPL - despite the fact LPL is rather close to MAN where there are already links to Toronto. I have read so many reports like this in the past and take all of them with a pinch of salt. LBA needs both Dubai and Toronto and arguably could sustain both routes better than either DSA or LPL due to having larger catchment areas.

Titled holidays yet little sign of Thomsons and Thomas Cook, would have thought sensible to put Business also in the title, its important at LBA.

The majority of Jet2 and Monarch passengers are going on Holiday and probably Ryanair for that matter.

Surely if a holiday add you concentrate on the three biggest package holiday companies in the u.k. not just one. I accept every company shown will carry holiday traffic, however, the two companies you have failed to present are those who are not providing sufficient routes ex LBA.

No you concentrate on the ones that provide the majority of the available capacity. Let's face it, if LBA were to push Thomson or Thomas Cook holidays their websites would probably respond with "your search enquiry doesn't match any flights from LBA but there are flights available from both Doncaster or Manchester."

Are you sure about that White Heather?

Obviously not with regard to Dubai. It's an age thing. But I am sure with regard to Abu Dhabi and Toronto and at my age 2 out of 3 isn't so bad.

I think like most of these reports it should be taken with a pinch of salt anyway. We've seen numerous similar reports over the years with destinations such as Toronto and New York mentioned but they never transpire. Not that they wont ever happen but needless to say, we're used to the sense of realism or perhaps disappointment. If Bridgepoint or whoever can make LBA look more professional, maybe in the future LBA could see some more international routes.

Totally agree with Aviador. Some make sense but others are complete nonsense. I wonder where the rationale for these proposals/suggestions come from - for example Delhi or Mumbai from DSA?? Do they draw them out of a hat???

So if we have lost the following flights this summer 5 Amsterdams [KLM] 3 Corks [STOBART] 1 Palma [AER EUROPA]
2 Barcelonas [VUELING] is that all ?
With the extra Jet 2 and Ryanair flights are we overall up or down on total weekly flights.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
