If so that is presumably due to FR recently announcing Faro as a base - although LBA was not listed as one of the Faro based routes at the time.

Does anyone have any predictions as to what winter routes Ryanair will do, (assuming things go well of course)?

I would like to see St Etienne (Lyon) and Bratislava (Vienna).

Canary Islands seem to hold off well during the winter for airlines, so the likes of LPA, TFS, FUE, ACE could be an option?

It is...but Ryanair class it as Vienna as it is not far away and regular shuttles run to Vienna.

Not as regular as Ryanair might have people believe according to a disgruntled passenger report on Skytrax.

He said the Ryanair flight from Bristol to Bratislava arrives at 1645 but the next bus to Vienna is not scheduled to leave for five hours.

That said, Ryanair has been getting 90+% monthly load factors on its 2 x weekly Bratislava service from Bristol in summer and over 80% in winter so it could be a good bet for a LBA route.

Ryanair is now operating to the Canaries from most of its UK bases year round.

All the routes out of LBA are shown on the Ryanair web map as all year rounders, including the likes of Malta. Is this correct? I would not have thought that they would all operate all year round.

Looking at Ryanair's track record from other UK regional airports, Carcassonne, Limoges, Ibiza, Montpellier and possibly Nantes won't operate in the winter.

Malta almost certainly will.

FR started the route from LBA's 'twin' airport in the West Country in summer 2009, have continued it this winter and are to increase it from 2 x weekly to 3 x weekly this coming summer - loads were very healthy in the summer and pretty good so far this winter. There is also an Air Malta competitor in summer.

From that I think you can take it that Malta will be year round.

Can we safely assume then that next winter will be busier than this one and previous, with the added FR flights, as it seems like most will stay on all year round?

Incidently, i noticed on their booking system, LBA shows 18 routes with FR. The additional that i wonder is showing as Barcelona (BAR). Now, correct me if im wrong but, the airport code for Barcelona is BCN, plus the drop down menu also shows Girona (Barcelona) (GRO) too...

Can anyone explain...?

If FR do start operating to the Canaries from LBA this coming Winter I can see the 737's running down to the Canaries for Jet2 and not the 757's even though some of their seat alocation is sold to TCX. Maybe we'll see some alternative routes this Winter out of LBA to keep the 757's busy.

With regards to the pricing of Jet2's flights so far against FR there really isn't that much between them on the current routes once you add all the extra costs on plus most of the timings that Jet2 offer are often that little bit better than FR's. Plus with Jet2 you do get to choose your seat before you board the plane.

I would have thought the demand would be there to keep Jet2 757's busy even if Ryanair did operate to the Canaries. It would be nice to see Ryanair operate to Fuerterventura and Las Palmas rather than simply copy what Jet2 do. They have a base at Fuerteventura so could actually operate such a flight from that base if necessary.

Ryanair don't have a base in FUE

Empire, they do not have a base at FUE now, but they do from March 2010, as confirmed recently on the Ryanair web site. They had previously pulled out, but have now agreed to re-open the base from March (see below, taken from the news announcement on the FR web site news section).

Since the above thread is talking about Ryanair operations in winter 2010-11, my comment stands that they could, if they wished, operate FUE - LBA next winter with an aircraft based at FUE.

Ryanair, the World’s favourite airline, today (18th Dec) confirmed that it will operate 10 Fuerteventura routes from March 2010 to/from Bournemouth, Brussels (Charleroi), Dublin, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Glasgow (Prestwick), Liverpool, Madrid, Milan (Bergamo) and Pisa. These routes will deliver 300,000 new passengers and create 300 new jobs at Fuerteventura.

There is not going to be any based ryanair aircarft at Fuerteventura this summer nor next winter seasons. They are classed more as an out station. As all flights to the canary islands are from there own UK and European airport bases.

Again, Ryanair are not opening a base at FUE. All filghts are operating tio FUE from other bases!

Similar to the old set-up at Manchester prior to the spat with the airport authority at that airport. Basically flights are operated to Fuerteventura from their base airports.

Well thanks for clarifying what Ryanair failed to clarify in their own web site guys. Perhaps Empiire if you expanded a little by explaining rather than so 'to the point' it might help?

Hi

Myself and other people on here had already worked out that ryanair needed to change there summer 2010 LBA programme so that the programme would fit into 2 based Boeing 737-800's. Well its now happened and the programme now fits together nicely.

Whats changed you asked! As mentioned by someboby else on here a couple of weeks ago the Faro and Evening/Weekend Dublin flights have been re-scheduled to be operated by non based aircraft. The Pisa Flight has also been retimed to an early morning inbound service. Also some of the Murcia flights have been swapped around with some of the Malaga flights by the looks of things.

Anyway below is listed the new revised on sale ryanair LBA summer timetable.

The LBA base will slowly come into action over the next two to three weeks. The airport is expecting around 300 new faces employed by Ryanair and associated companies.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
