C'mon 58, are you seriously saying that Birmingham is alone in doing such things ?? Every city around the world is looking to impress when it hosts a big international event and Brum is no different.
Brum is financially broke mate. Somebody is going to have to pay and it ain't going to be the visitors.

The last time I saw a working fountain was when it was contaminated with fast food debris, fag ends and beer cans. Maybe times have changed and people have more respect but I have doubts but the budget should concentrate upon venues, hotels and getting the basics sorted before tarting up the stuff that should already be good for visitors to the city.

There are lots and lots of people in this country who are broke, it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself once in a while.

Yes it will be us the taxpayers of Birmingham who will pay, and ?

Just when you thought I'd disappeared I'm back to post a couple of photos of the model airliner collection! Few new ones in there including some rarities like the JAT DC9 which was the first aircraft I'd flown on since the sixties when I flew to from Birmingham to Pula in the late 80s . Another extremely rare one is the Lufthansa 737/100 one of which I saw at Birmingham as a diversion in 1978.View attachment 15255View attachment 15256

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
