Yes welcome to Forums4airports and thank you for joining. We actually have forums for all UK and overseas airports so feel free to join in any discussion of interest throughout the forums, most of our members are friendly and welcoming.

I am actually from Yeadon and still reside there. My interest in aviation started by regularly visiting Yeadon airport as a child during the mid 80's when the airport was expanding.

Yes this forum has also put me back in touch with fellow LBA enthusiasts I hadn't seen since the 80s and 90s. There will always be some differences of opinions but that's the idea and important to remember that everyone is entitled to that opinion even if you don't agree with it. But it's all because people care, especially about LBA

I thought it might be Ok to post a nostalgia photo a day on this thread, from my little collection (of over 200 photographs taken at LBA over the years. No particular order - just as they come on my PC. Hope this is OK with admin. First up, Aer Lingus Commuter's Fokker F50 - EI-FKB operating the regular LBA to Dublin route, prior to Aer Lingus pulling off the route (now back again using Stobart ATR72s). Prior to the F50, Aer LIngus had operated into LBA since the early 60s using DC3 , Fokker F27 Friendship, Viscount 800, BAC1-11, Boeing 737 200, Saab 340, Shorts 330 and Shorts 360 equipment.14434Aer Lingus Commuter Fokker 50 EI-FKB.jpg

One of the best looking planes if it's day. Perfect lines and the War Lingus colours really suited it.

The Aer Lingus F50s were always immaculately turned out. Perhaps they were washed down at Dublin every night.

Lovely photo White Heather, I love the nostalgia threads please keep the photographs comings their was much more variety of aircraft back then although there was a long wait between arrivals certainly at BHX or Elmdon to give it it's old name.

The F50 was a great little bird to fly on. I only ever flew on one which was G-UKTE of Air UK back in August 1997. I flew from Guernsey to LBA. We were delayed coming back due to (yes you’ve guessed it!)…fog at LBA. I had flown out the previous weekend on G-BNCY, my only ever trip on a F27 Friendship, which ironically was delayed due to fog at the Guernsey end.

I also remember years ago being on a bus going through Headingley (probably a 755 from Bradford – remember those LBA spotter?) and seeing an Aer Lingus B737/500 on finals.

Photo of the day. After Dan Air had done with it, G-BPND (Boeing 727 200) passed to Sabre Airlines and continued to visit LBA. With Dan Air, it was a regular sight operating charter flights to Spain on behalf of Intasun Holidays. The shadow on the bottom right of the photo is the perimeter fencing as this photo was taken adjacent to the road tunnel entrance.

Todays photo (s) - More Aer LIngus Commuter, this time the short lived Saab 2000, which frankly was quite an upgrade from the previously used Shorts 360 on the Dublin route. As a bonus, I also attach a lovely photo of a regular at LBA, BAC1-11 EI-ANF, in the classic 1970s livery, although this particular photo was taken over the hill and is shown by kind permission of the photographer, Ken Fielding.Aer LIngus BAC1-11 EI-ANF (Ken Fielding) at MAN.jpgAer Lingus Commuter Saab 340 EI-AFD.jpg

Correct..Saab 340 it is. They were great to fly on as well. Went to Paris CDG and back with BMI Regional G-GNTB back in 1997. Oh to have a proper CDG service again!!

The One-Eleven 400 in that livery looks superb.
Love the steps at the back.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
