One aircraft that should never have being grounded, if only it wasn't for both the Air France crash in Gonesse and the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the world Trade centre in New York.
All 13+ remaining air-frames were still serviceable at the time of retirement and had plenty of air time left in them.

"Flying into the night, no bumps no bangs Concorde."

According to one TV programme I watched, all the BA Concordes had at least another 20 years in them, as their flying hours were so limited and the fleet were rotated. They could still have been flying today had the demand not disappeared after 9/11.

I remember the fact it came in and the fact I didn't see it. I believe several of these came in actually, carrying horses for York Races?

Today's nostalgic photos from me relate to Euro 96 - the French contingent only, including a rare Air France Airbus A320 100 series, minus the usual winglets.

Interesting fact that the Air France, F-GFKE was 1 of only 21+ Airbus A320-100 series produced..

Are those AOM aircraft a DC10 or a MD11? and forgive me for my lack of knowledge but how do you tell the difference?? I had a quick look at some images on Google and they both look the same.

AOM aircraft are Dc-10.... MD11 is very similar but has wing fences and marginaly bigger engines

The first low cost Polish service from LBA was operated by Centralwings some thirteen and a half years ago. Boeing 737-400 SP-LLI is parked on Stand 8 ready to depart back to Warsaw Chopin on 03 May 2006. Despite a scheduled LBA turnround at just after midnight, passenger loads were healthy, too healthy. The Centralwings parent company LOT operated a Manchester to Warsaw schedule and their loads were being affected by the low cost offering 'over the hill' therefore it was no surprise that the LBA schedule didn't last long!

Today, more Euro 96, this time the Spanish contingent - and a few more that operated from 'neutral' airlines making up the numbers. The all white turbo prop, that looks like a Fokker F27 Friendship, isn't. It's actually a pretty rare Fairchild Hiller FH227B, a slightly larger version of the F27 built under license in the USA.

FH227 OY-EBA was operated by Newair and visited on two consecutive days in June 1996. On the 09th it brought supporters in from Copenhagen then positioned out to Humberside NAW1741/0773, and on the 10th positioned in from East Midlands before operating out to Copenhagen NAW9741/2741.
