Probably been asked before. Can anyone remember the registrations of the Capital Airlines fleet of Shorts 360’s?

I easily remember the BAe146-200’s G-OSUN & G-OSKI.

Only reason am asking is because I’m seriously considering commissioning a 2nd mahogany model to be made to join my 146-200 G-OSKI on the mantelpiece.

Thanks in advance.

I recall G-OLBA and G-OLGW. Did BRS, GLA and CWL also get a mention?

Yes, they are all listed above. There was G-BNDM, which was the first, plus
G-OLBA, G-OLTN, G-OLGW, G-OEEC and G-CPTL.

G-OLBA and G-0LTN were Shorts 360 300s, the rest were 100s.

Following on from a conversation on here regarding sunseeker leisure and aspro holidays program of flights during 1993 from LBA i dug out my air supply timetables from that year, i actually have every single timetable winter and summer from 1991 until 2004/5 if anyone is interested?
I've shared a couple of images from Saturday and sunday from summer 1993! Sorry about the fluorescent pen marks but i was only young at the time! Great to see a balkan tu154 and a caledonian b757 landing pretty much the same time on sat mornings and never actually realised inter european used their b757s into LBA, the sunseeker flights were those air foyle b737, were they not subbed from BA?
Also note the entire amount of departing flights in 1993 on the Saturday or sunday, we have that amount of flights depart in just 2 hrs in 2024 between 6 and 8am!!View attachment 31670View attachment 31671

The Sunseeker 737 was G-BNNJ. A -300, originally for Dan Air but taken into the BA fleet at the time of the buyout. It was flown on the Air Foyle AOC and crewed, at least partly, by former Dan Air pilots. I remember it doing some crew training at LBA before the summer season began.

It was. It also nearly met disaster here one Sunday morning . I watched it emerge on finals out of the mist, descend directly over my house, (extremely low), and it was apparently intending to land. Unfortunately, I didn't live in Scotland Way, but Moseley Wood Green, Cookridge, a mile East of the runway. There was a worrying period of time between the 737 emerging from the mist and 'going around' during which it looked intent on landing in Pounds Farm! Ten minutes later, it made a normal approach on the 32 ILS. No idea what was going in first time but it's approach was directly overhead Tinshill water tower roughly 1 mile East of the true glideslope.

Yes Inter European mainly used the 737 300s but did use their 757s on some flights. My flight from PFO was due in at tea time but the one part based aircraft habitually picked up so many delays during the first 6 weeks if ops, that it never made it to Leeds before night closure, operating in and out of MAN. They sorted it after that and generally it operated as intended. In fact, my return flight was the first to actually arrive at LBA.

The Capital Shorts 360s were all 39-seat 360-300s (to use the manufacturer's marketing name). All 360s were certificated as 360-100s per the CAA, but the Capital aircraft had the more powerful -67R engines and the higher max take-off weight (12,292 kgs versus 11,999 for a standard 360) which made them a "360-300" in Shorts' language.

Thanks. I always remembered they were all 300s, but what I quoted was from the Shorts airframe listing that I found. I assumed it must be right although it didn't seem so to me.

Following on from my post last night are a couple more images with a few highlights from summer 1995 and 96.
1995 was i believe the first summer with 24hr flying. Due to this thomson and airtours both based aircraft at LBA, thomson based a monarch A320 and airtours an air europa b737-300 for the summer season.
Favourites include the spanair md83s and the via tu154 flights!
I suppose the main highlight of 1996 was the announcement of flights to orlando using a britannia b767-300, although from memory it never really happened with only a handful of flights leaving LBA to Orlando, my family and i were due to fly on this service but ended up been transferred to MAN!
What is interesting to note is the number of flights departing LBA during the eve and not returning back until 7 or 8am the following morning, guess it was a thing back then, its also interesting to see how regional flights have dropped off so much over the years but holiday flights have gone off the scale, mainly due to low cost flights of course!
If any forum members are interested in these timetables then i can keep posting snippets from them on here, i remember back in the day as a little one i used to get so excited heading upto air supply for the next edition timetable!!

Nostalgia is a really interesting thing because one "constant" is "change". Whether we like it or not things do change - routes, schedules, airlines, markets. It happens to everything. But for those of us that do remember the 1990s and before I think we all agree that things are boring today - comparably at least. Everything is very samey samey. That said would any of us back in say 1990 expect LBA to be handling circa 4.5mppa by 2024. Possibly not. So I think where I am going with this is, particularly @LBA4EVER it is important that you continue to share snippets of your important memories. They will mean more to some than others, but they remain important

Is that the Cessna? Reg sounds familiar white and blue from memory, flew it a few times from LBA.
Also flew G-MRSN dark blue R 22 from Coney Park
Its the one that became famous decades ago when it ended up upside down on the 12th tee at Horsforth Golf Club. When I was a member, there was a photo of it on the wall in the members lounge. Must be ancient now. At least 50 years old I imagine.

1970s: Leeds Bradford Airport, Yeadon
The fuselage of a Cessna 152 G-BFGL Aerobat which had crashed near Horsforth Golf Club.
Engineers from Yorkshire Light Aircraft found it difficult to recover the plane in situ so removed the wings and tail, the remains were rolled down Bayton Lane, seen here as they approach the traffic lights at the crossroads with Parish's newsagents on the right.

Not sure it did crash . According to golf club members who were there at the time, it was lined up on the pan (runway 01) and a very strong gust of wind flipped it over the fence, down the embanknent and on to the 12th tee, which is directly below. Too long ago for my memory.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
