Re: Nostalgia Thread

Hi Bob

There's clearly a permission based problem. I'll have a look at it later tonight and sort it out.

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Hi Bob, sorry I didn't see your question until now and I see Aviador has answered and there seems to be a problem. In case it helps what I did was save my scanned photos in to 'Pictures' on my laptop. Then go into the Nostalgia photos and there is a red box marked 'New Image', which I click on. Then I click on Browse, go back into my pictures, select the photo to upload, double click and as if by magic it goes into the Nostalgia photos. Then I do the same again, until I have used all 10 'browse' boxes. I then click on 'continue' and after they have loaded up, I enter the commentary in the box and then submit.

Haven't a clue how to transfer them to the main thread though, but thankfully Aviador does it for me sometimes!

The next 10 photos are there now. Thanks to everyone for looking at them and for those that have rated them or commented. It makes the 3 hours it took to scan them all worthwhile. There are probably about another 30 to go yet.

Bobleeds

The permissions problem is sorted. :good:

White Heather, it's really easy to transfer photos to the main forum. Go to the forum gallery and click on one of the photo thumbnails to enlarge the picture. Underneath the picture there are three boxes, one says image URL the others says BBCode. "Left click" to select the top URL code. Once the code is highlighted "right click" and select "copy" Once you have copied the code you can then go to the individual thread such as the Leeds Nostalgia thread and "right click" and "paste"

Here is what the URL will look like....

Code:
http://www.forums4airports.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=5&image_id=371

For the picture to then display on the forum you need to wrap the URL code with the BBCode

The BBCode for images looks like this....

Code:
[img][/img]

So the url code wrapped with the image BBCode will look like this....

Code:
[img]http://www.forums4airports.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=5&image_id=371[/img]

This will appear on the forum as a picture....

Needless to say it's common courtesy to give details of the photographer and where it is hosted.

Re: Nostalgia Thread

I’ve just uploaded 5 photos taken in 2000’s featuring an Airtours 757-200, Multiflight’s old BBJ , white Bmi Embraer 145, ramp photo featuring a white Thomson 767-200, Skyservice A320-200 (operating on behalf of MyTravel), 3 Jet2 737-300s in old tails and an up close ramp photo disembarking a Ryanair 737-200 in 2003.

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Aviador and White Heather, Thanks for your help and guidance
I've now been able to upload a few scans from the post runway extension 80's and possibly early 90's. Sorry, some are a bit grainy and in less than perfect focus, but none the less I hope they bring back a few memories.

More to follow.

Bob

Concorde at LBA by bobleeds hosted on Forums4airports.com

Thanks ever so much for sharing your pictures with us. They are superb. I love your picture of Concorde. In all the years Concorde came to Leeds I never seemed to get a decent picture for one reason or another but you certainly cracked it with this shot of the lady.

Was this the only DC8 to ever come to LBA does anybody know?

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Thanks Aviador, glad you like them.

I think there have been a few more DC8's. I believe Rich Air brought one in on a trooping flight, and also Aviaco occasionally used them on the flight to/from Palma which was normally rostered for the Iberia A300 (curiously the flights had Aviaco call signs and the Iberia machines were sub-chartered on wet lease by Aviaco for the season), I have a couple of scans which I shall upload.

Just to confuse these flights even further, I can remember them bringing in a DC8 in Saudi Airlines livery!

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Great photos Bobleeds. You seem to have some really good ones of the ones I never got too, so it was nice to see them, especially the Aer Lingus 1-11 and G-WLAD which was on lease to British Midland from Airways Cymru I believe.

Sorry I missed posting last night but had to call 999 for my Mum so never got near the PC until this evening when I am having a break from the hospital. I have just posted some more, but some of the ones I had left to post have now been posted by Bobleeds, with better photos than mine (eg Air Holland 727), so I will probably be posting a few less now than I originally intended.

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Hope your Mum is OK White Heather.

Please do post all your photo's I'd love to see them. Much as the pax numbers are much better now than ever before, it has to be said the aircraft these days are much less interesting than in the years just before and after the runway was extended.

Re: Nostalgia Thread

Well I have posted the last of the photos today - around 25 I think. I might have some more later but they are on CD's, and are in the loft of my ex, so I am waiting for them back. I have found a few more at home too but will probably wait a while now before posting any more in view of the problems with my Mum which are restricting my time at the moment. Anyway, I know they were not all perfect (although most look pretty decent if viewed close up), but I hope you enjoyed a trip down memory lane by viewing them. It seems to have started a trend too which has to be good!

I didn't realise it was so long since the last post in this thread, so I thought I would set a poser for you all.
Can you name all the airlines that have flown LBA - BRS since 1970 (my memory only goes back that far) and for a bonus, the aircraft they used.

My starter for 10:

Capital Airlines, Shorts 360
Air South West, Dash 8 300
British Airways Regional, Bae Jetstream 41
Eastern Airways, Bae Jetstream 41 and Saab 2000

I can't think of the others right now as I am at work, but I will no doubt be racking my brain for the rest of the day now!!

Oh yes, I remember the Severn Air DH Dove. That makes me feel really OLD! Dan Air used their HS748's I believe?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
