We do have a reasonable variety of aircraft types today Bigman , your right. I think because the majority of these are daily visitors it affects " the wow factor "
I like the way you explained it too Avaidor , the noise and fumes were an integral part of the excitement , of course todays jets are much quieter , again disturbing the thrill we got in the past.
The majority were foreign charters , again making the day out that bit more special , today we have very few , putting those aside we still seem to lack non holiday charters, like we use to do. Im thinking about special MOD flights and rare visitors like the UAE 747 SP.
Even diverting aircraft in the past seemed bigger and noisier !!
