Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
The UK's largest Tour operator Tui has just announced its going to add an extra 2 million seats across its network for next summer 2020 season. The company is already Atol licensed to carry 5.5 million but will grow to 7.5 million with extra flights being added from its bases at Manchester, Doncaster Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow airports.

As to be expected by Tui, I don't think Leeds/Bradford will get a look in.

TUI's failure at LBA continues to be Jet2's gain. Yes it's more boring seeing the same airline but still better than not having LS here at all because I don't think a combination of other carriers would be carrying the same volumes. That said any new entrant in the future is going to struggle to get any sort of stranglehold at LBA. But at least we haven't really many TC pax to replace like we had a couple of years ago with ZB, and certainly not as bad a hit as it is for some other UK airports. Whilst not great at LBA currently I don't see it as all doom and gloom

Given TUi's record over many years, I would rather have the relative boredom of more Jet2 flights ahead of extra from TUi. At least if Jet2 schedule flights they almost always actually happen, which is more than can be said for TUi. It will be interesting to see how TUi manage to put on all these extra flights though, even if their 737 MAXs finally go back into service. Their fleet must be pretty much used to the maximum anyway in summer, so finding capacity to add another 2m seats isn't straightforward at all.

Lots of rumours about them taking on the leases of some ex TC 321`s and they are offering 100 pilot jobs with 50 being DEC from Thomas Cook, according to both Tui and Balpa. They are also saying they are looking at operating from `other` undisclosed UK airports. We shall see but I`ll lay money on one they won`t..

hi all
i wonder if T.U.I.will return to teeside for summer 2020,i would bet on them getting a very good deal.

They are certainly looking at Chinese students heading to York via their KLM link and LBA diversions as per enclosed article.

Let us be honest here. Teesside will look at anything which will put bums on seats at this stage. Were they able to get TUI back there, however bad they (TUI) are, they would be over the moon. Better still would be a lo-co if they intend to make their 1 million passengers come true. Good luck to them. It was once a nice little airport, that is until Peel got hold of it.

The planned TUi Holidays summer 2020 Tuesday flight to/from Palma-Majorca is now shown been operated by Air Europa as follows.

PMI 10:25 - LBA 12:00 / LBA 12:50 - PMI 16:25

The Saturday Palma service is still listed as "Other Carrier"

PMI 11:35 - LBA 13:20 / LBA 14:30 - PMI 18:10

Meanwhile it looks like TUi Airways will at least operate the Friday Corfu flight as follows using a Manchester based aircraft on w-leg.

CFU 13:00 - LBA 14:30 / LBA 15:35 - CFU 21:00

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
