{RWANDAIR- We appreciate your suggestion. We will be sure to pass it to our scheduling team for their future consideration. Thank you}

Received correspondence today from RWANDAIR - who I suggested Birmingham international Airport -

hope they don't get confused with Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM/KBHM), formerly Birmingham Municipal Airport and later Birmingham International Airport in the USA!! Suggest you use the correct airport name of Birmingham Airport UK in the future!

Again I love the enthusiasm, the airport seems to need some of that energy at the moment.

Have you considered something a little more closer to home, especially with the huge amount of European routes now missing?

A start maybe be contacting easyjet, even some away based routes could fill several gaps and I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try Wizz and Ryanair whilst you are there. You could ask if Czech Airlines are planning a return to Prague, could Iberia Express be persuaded to return on the now missing Madrid, Loganair to IOM and/or NQY, Eurowings bringing back Hamburg.......the list goes on and possibly all more realistic than Rawandair?

Just look at the lost routes thread and work backwards from there :)

Good luck.

AIR MALTA "for the time being we are unable to consider the route unless the situation changes during the year. Thank you for your interest and Happy New Year. Alison"

I received correspondence from Air Malta; who I contacted to kindly start Birmingham Airport BHX flights.

Azores Airlines sent Today at 10:22

Hello. Thank you for your suggestion

(It be nice to have SANTA AZORES Airlines in Birmingham)-
Azores Airlines, previously known as SATA International, is a Portuguese airline based in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel in the autonomous archipelago of the Azores.

How about directing some emails to those connected to BHX that can maybe make a difference. The leaders of the Metropolitan Borough Councils could be a start. You could also try Mayor Street who seems to come across as very approachable.

These people promote Greater Birmingham on a world stage and celebrate it as a place to do business so maybe ask them why the airport that serves the region struggles with it's route network and frequencies to key destinations and what they intend to do to improve it.

Well said Ray. A company will send back a reply to the sender with what the sender wants to hear.Airlines are in it to make money and they are not a charity. With this covid 19 im sure there wont be many new routes started from any airport. Its going to take a few years tobthe level we were at before the covid 19 kicked in.
Morning Ray.

Hi there all, happy new year to everyone and there families on this forum. Anyway to the point, I have this morning, sent an email to the west Midlands mayor, Mr Andy Street, after this current pandemic is over, too look at pressing airlines to come and serve Birmingham Airport, i await for his reply..AndyC

I agree - S21 is another write off in my opinion

I wouldn't say it's a total right off but right now I would just love for BHX to get back to some kind oif normal with our existing network. Fantasy stuff like above is for another year, not 2021 or even 2022 ??

Just needed to get that off my chest. (y)

Hi there Brumx, so you indicate that these forum posts are going a bit boring, so does that include my email to the west Midlands major about future expansion and flights from Birmingham Airport..AndyC

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
