Just found this during a random search.

Yes, it’s a good sign that both Wizz and LBA have shown the flexibility and speed to try and sort the problems out. Hopefully the diversions will just be a distant memory going forward.

The comment doesn't make much sense in the context of weather though. Are you sure that doesn't; refer to that brief period when there was confusion about whether some of the Qc1.0 aircraft weren't permitted to depart after 11:00 and so some late running flights had to divert to Liverpool to avoid being locked in overnight.

Pretty sure it does. Nothing to do with weather.

Good to see, no doubt the DOO & Times will change as they mess with the schedule. Hopefully some increased frequencies will come.

C'mon Wizz, throw us a new route.

On a side note LPL & BHX had their BUD route cut for W25. Good to see our program still remains without cuts.

Like i keep mentioning wizz are the ones to target for expansion for a whole number of reasons, LBA could certainly be their east of england base, MAN is not an issue plus LPL is their west ops, wizz cover many routes that LBA are crying out for, wizz use the perfect aircraft types and its looking less likely we will see anything big from easyjet for the next year or so now so abit more room perhaps on the apron for now.
Although only 1 extra flight so far for summer 26 its still an increase, and with all other destinations available at the same frequency with no cuts like at other uk airports id say thats a good sign, so come on wizz lets at least have a few more destinations!

Vilnius is an obvious one. A Wizz base and a proven route when Ryanair did it, with great loads. But as they do, Ryanair fell out with the national airport operators and axed it apart from one or two UK airports. But, no doubt, Wizz would need to add a based aircraft or drop another route, or at least drop some ex Vilnius rotations to add LBA to their network.

Would that be down to aircraft shortages due to engine issues? If so whats the current situation with the fleet? When will they be back to normal ops?

Wizz do announce new destinations fairly regularly so presumably they feel they can get better yields on routes other than to Leeds.

Its also interesting that Ryanair offer so many Kaunas-UK flights yet dont operate to Leeds. Maybe theres just not the demand

Ryanair used to operate to Kaunas from LBA but I seem to recall they dropped it in favour of Vilnius. Pretty sure that when the axed the Vilnius route due to raised fees, other airports had theirs axed too with just BHX and maybe STN continuing.

Not sure how they will know what yields they will achieve on a route, and to a country that they've never operated from LBA?

I suppose the same way they always estimate viability. Market research.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
